No matter how prepared of a person you are, you can never really prepare for becoming a parent. We are all about moms helping moms, so of course, we had to ask some of our favorite mamas about the products that helped them survive the newborn stage.
5 Newborn Must-Haves from the Rookie Mom Squad
Ring Sling
Rookie Mom, Karissa, says that her all-time favorite newborn item is a ring sling. She really loves the Nalakai Ring Sling because it’s just as high quality & comparable to some of the big expensive brands without the huge price tag.
The Nalakai Ring Sling also has:
• Lots of color options
• It is affordable
• Anne (the owner) has lots of how-to videos to help new mamas learn how to wrap their babies up safe & snug!
• The fabric is lightweight & very breathable

Gro Anywhere Blackout Curtain
Laura, one of our sleep experts, recommends the Gro Anywhere Blackout Curtain to all new mamas. She says making sure your baby’s room is pitch black will help signal that it’s bedtime! Light can interfere with melatonin production, so we need to ensure our baby’s room is as dark as possible, helping them to wind down. Plus, they can even travel with you!
Rohm Portable Sound Machine
Shelby, a mama of two on our Rookie Mom Squad, says the Rohm Portable Sound Machine helped her survive the newborn days! It is chargeable, portable, and easy to use. Plus, she has had it for 2.5 years and it still works amazing for being less than $30.
Woolino Sleep Sacks
Shelby also recommends Woolino Sleep Sacks. The 2-24 month four seasons sleep sack is a one-and-done item. They are really amazing quality, and one Sleep Sack lasted her through both kids.

Tubby Todd
Now for a product the whole squad absolutely loves! You won’t use Tubby Todd right away on your newborn, but trust us you want it waiting in the cabinet for when you do need it. Tubby Todd makes some of the best body care products for babies; shampoo, body wash, lotion, and more.
Kate says, “I’ve purchased other soaps and lotions that fall into this same category, and I find that the smell of this product surpasses its competitors. I like it so much, I’ve actually been using the lotion on myself! My son also has extremely sensitive skin (like his Mama), and the lotion, specifically, helps the small rashes he gets on his face and neck during the day, even with the scent (normally I go fragrance-free, but these natural scents are a game-changer).”
Amber also swears by Tubby Todd’s All Over Ointment. This ointment is gentle enough for newborns but works for all ages. When her daughter has Eczema outbreaks, this is her go-to for relief.
