Whew. We just spent the morning dodging toddlers chasing bubbles while holding onto a freshly brewed cup of coffee and generally enjoying the company of our Bay Area community embracing one of our favorite people, Asha Dornfest. It was as perfect as it sounds. Big thanks to the Rec Room Cafe for hosting our crowd and keeping the coffee flowing.
Our longtime favorite website for parenting tips and tricks is now a brilliant book: Parent Hacks: 134 Genius Shortcuts for Life with Kids. Just released, it offers adorable quirky illustrations right along with some of the best tips from the Parent Hacks website readers. Your kids can read it right along with you and figure out better ways to all the stuff.
You can also contribute your own tips and tricks to the communal pool of knowledge by using the hashtag #parenthacks on social media. Because we’re all discovering better ways to do something, get shoes on, avoid poop on the walls, and sneak in some healthier food. Right?
I love how the book is broken into tasty bite-size tricks (hacks!) for everyday challenges like smooshing the tube of toilet paper just enough that a toddler can’t unspool it in one go (Slow your roll, buddy!).
I also adore the pages that show some of the many uses for everyday objects. Here is one of my many favorite images excerpted right from the Parent Hacks book about the many wonderful uses for baby wipes (and wait to see what she does with laundry baskets and painters tape):
Parent Hacks: 134 Genius Shortcuts for Life with Kids is available now and I promise you will learn a few genius shortcuts to to make it worth your while. PS it makes a great gift!
