Here is to looking cute and breastfeeding, too! If you choose to breastfeed your baby, it will become a huge part of your life. In fact, sometimes it will probably feel like it is completely consuming you and your time. This being said, you need to take breastfeeding into account when choosing your wardrobe for the next 6 months and beyond. We gathered some of the cutest and comfiest breastfeeding shirts for you below to make your search a little easier. After all, you’ve probably got plenty of other things on your mind right now!
Made for Breastfeeding vs. Work for Breastfeeding Shirts
There is one important thing you need to pay attention to when picking out a shirt for breastfeeding, some are designed with breastfeeding mamas in mind and others are just normal shirts that make it easy to nurse your little one. Nothing is wrong with either option! However, I recommend starting off with shirts that are made for breastfeeding. Then, once you’ve really got the hang of things you can choose normal shirts.
The Best Trendy & Comfy Breastfeeding Shirts
Breastfeeding Shirts for Lounging
I will start off by saying this, as a new mom it is perfectly acceptable to always be in comfy lounge clothes! That is why we are starting off our list here with shirts that are perfect for around the house or around town when you feel like keeping it comfortable.
This is apparently a “sleeping t-shirt” but it is definitely something you could also wear all day long. It is super soft, comes in a couple of colors, and is a lightweight material. Most importantly, it has slits up the side that make breastfeeding easy.
Keep in mind, you will probably want to wear a tank top or nursing sports bra underneath when leaving the house.
I love all things ribbed in the fall and winter, and this cozy top is no exception. I especially love that this breastfeeding shirt has a little extra length giving you enough coverage to wear with leggings. The neckline has two pieces that cross over each other, so you can pull one piece to the side for feeding sessions.
These waffle knit tops are taking the nursing mama world by storm. They are comfortable, fashion-forward, and make nursing easy. Thankfully this henley comes in a ton of different colors because you might just want two of them for your closet! While it isn’t necessarily made for nursing moms, you can easily unbutton the top two buttons and it will work perfectly as a breastfeeding shirt.
This top runs pretty true to size, so you may want to size up for a baggy fit. Also, keep in mind it is longer in the back and shorter in the front.
If you like feeling like you are wrapped in a blanket 24/7 (like me!) then you will adore this wrap sweater. It is incredibly soft and the material is visibly high quality. The neckline makes it great for nursing at home or out and about!
This sweater is definitely over-sized and quite long! Personally, I think it is cute this way but if you want a more fitted look order 1-2 sizes down.
Nursing Tank Tops for Layering
I always kept a good collection of breastfeeding tank tops around when I was in the nursing phase. I loved that I could wear them around the house and then throw anything over them, from sweatshirts to flannels, when I headed out.
This breastfeeding shirt is one of my favorites because the henley-style buttons (they’re just snaps, so they still provide easy nursing access) make it look stylish under a cardigan or sweater. No one will know all you have on underneath is a nursing tank top! This tank top is stretchy, so you can wear it during pregnancy and postpartum. Another thing I love about this tank top option, the straps are thick and will hide your bra straps.
Mamas say it runs a little big, so you may want to size down if you want it to really hold you in.
This organic 2-pack comes with both a black and a white tank top, so you will have your bases covered. They have a scoop neck and fit true to size, but are stretchy enough to fit during and post-pregnancy. As you can see in the photo, there are drop-down clips that give you easy access for nursing.
Shirts So Cute No One Will Notice They’re for Nursing
Breastfeeding shirts don’t necessarily have to look like breastfeeding shirts! You can keep your typical cute style while wearing a shirt that will make it way easier for you to feed your little one.
Leave it to ASOS to design a staple white t-shirt for nursing mamas! This v-neck can go with just about anything and can be dressed up or dressed down. It is double-layered, which is what will give you breastfeeding access! Don’t fret though, it is still a super light-weight tee.
Of course, our list wouldn’t be complete without a pretty pop of color! Best of all, this breastfeeding shirt is designed specifically with nursing on the go in mind with easy side buttons. I personally love that this top is flowy, but not too flowy making it a great choice for postpartum.
I have to admit this is my favorite thing on the entire list, and I would wear it nursing or not just because I think it is so cute! The drop shoulder and the front overlap make nursing easy. Having a kangaroo pocket also comes in handy for all the various things that end up in your hands as a mom; pacifiers, keys, phone, bottle nipple, you name it.
If you have a special occasion to attend while nursing or you just feel like dressing up, this blouse is gorgeous and functional. This deep emerald green color is definitely popular right now and pairs perfectly with blue or black jeans. Not to mention, the belt will give you beautiful shape!
I hope this list has helped you find a shirt that you love and that will make your breastfeeding journey even better!
