***This post is Sponsored Mom by Parent’s Choice Formula, but as always all opinions are my own**

Mom knows best”¦ or is it really “moms” know best? While my own mother is a pretty special woman and someone I turn to for advice almost daily, I’ve learned how beneficial it can be to turn to other moms around me as well. Whether it be friends, a sister, aunts or cousins every mom has been on a unique journey and likely has some great lessons to pass along to you.

One journey that all of us have seemingly struggled through is learning what your baby likes when it comes to feeding. Whether you plan on breastfeeding or formula feeding, you’ll be getting advice from all sorts of people. We don’t want to be those people pushing you in one direction or the other, but we think you might just want to hear what we have to say!

Along with feeding advice, we’ve gathered some of the best tips from mamas we know and included them all right here. You can take it or leave it, but I promise it’s at least worth a read.

Moms Know Best

Top 5 Mom Tips

Diapers-

Changing diapers becomes a big part of your day when you become a mama. First of all, you and your partner need to think ahead of time what division of labor is going to be like. Is it every other? Who is doing diapers in the middle of the night? It really doesn’t matter at the end of the day how you choose to divide and conquer, but feeling resentment toward your spouse while the snore away at 2:34 AM next to you as you change yet another poop is precisely what you want to avoid.

We’ve heard from a lot of moms that you will each want to come up with a routine for diaper changing. This will help immensely once you’re sweet baby becomes a wild wiggly monster. Plus, it will help your baby to understand what’s going on and maybe cooperate instead of peeing on you. On that note, if you’re having a boy invest in a pee cone. I think every boy mom will tell you the same as we’ve all been peed on.

Feeding-

One of the hardest parts of early motherhood is figuring out feeding. Every baby is different, even between siblings. While breastfeeding is an amazing option for both you and your baby, it isn’t always realistic and for a lot of different reasons might not work out. That’s okay though, because now you can get all the same health benefits in a formula. The prebiotic HMO, human milk oligosaccharide, which helps build your baby’s immune system is now in certain brands, like Parent’s Choice HMO Formula.

This prebiotic is found in abundance in breastmilk, so including it in a baby’s formula means their immune system will develop similarly to that of a breastfed baby. We’ve seriously heard only wonderful things about Parent’s Choice, both in the fact that it’s easy on baby’s tummy and leaves mom feeling secure that their little one is getting all the nutrients they need for growth and development. Another fact that mamas love is it’s made of Non-GMO ingredients. Also Vitamin E, DHA, and Lutein are all included in the formula to support your baby in their first year. Not to mention it’s actually really affordable, so we recommend you at least give it a try. You can find this brand exclusively in WalMart or order it online right here.Perrigo_Infant_SocialAsset_02

Sleep

There is one thing that can not be said enough when it comes to sleep. Sleep when your baby sleeps. It’s going to be tempting to try to do so many other things during nap times, but it’s absolutely essential for you to get your own sleep. We are not made to be awake 24 hours a day so take advantage of any sleep you can get.

Mama Care

This ties into the whole sleep thing a little bit, but there are so many ways for new moms to squeeze some real self care in. Here are the two biggest things we hear from experienced moms. One, pick something that you loved before motherhood and make time for it. Whether it be yoga, painting,  going on a run, or even jumping on the bed with your kids. If it’s something that makes you happy keep doing it.

Motherhood shouldn’t mean losing yourself and giving yourself time to do the things you love will prevent you from feeling this way. After all, a happy mom is the best kind. Two, ask for help and take help when it is offered. Let your mother-in-law step in to babysit or let your husband be on duty one night. When they said it takes a village, they weren’t kidding.

Staying Prepared

You can never be too prepared for anything in motherhood. Things will go so much smoother if you think ahead of time and plan things out, but of course this shouldn’t take away from living in the moment! It just means learning to pack your diaper bag specifically for your baby’s needs and scheduling around nap times. You will come to learn that having a baby means taking things a little slower, but every moment is a little sweeter so it’s worth the wait.
