What I made Heather for her birthday

At least one of you probably read on Twitter that I was making something for Heather for her birthday, which was last month. (March 15 -  mark your calendars.)

Here it is, a clutch with vintage Vespa scooters on it.

The pattern is from a book called Making Handbags: Retro, Chic and Luxurious Designs

The sample executions of the patterns in the book are a bit dated, but the shapes are pretty useful practice for a beginner sewer.

And what did we do to celebrate? Heather and (Rookie Dad) Alec rented a karaoke room at a Korean karaoke joint in Oakland. Ten grown men and women poured Jack Daniels into Coke cans (it is a dry establishment) and sang our hearts out. Super fun.
