A day in the life of your child changes monthly, doesn’t it? In the first month of life, it might be 45% pictures of a sleeping swaddled baby; 45% half-asleep sucking and slurping baby; and 10% screaming and flailing. By the end of the first year, you’ve got a few meals of solid food, some scooting, toy throwing, and sock pulling. So many photo opps.
I love the idea of documenting a day in the life of your baby because later, they will be fascinated by it. I so regret that we don’t have a good picture of Julian’s first nanny. She watched him 30 hours per week from four months to 18 months, and I was too embarassed to ask her to take her picture pushing his stroller, reading him Goodnight Moon, and spoon-feeding him my breast milk (because people, that kid NEVER did take a bottle.) Now, he can’t remember her. Bad mommy.
Enough about me. This is a Reader Did-Do.
Tegan just posted a day in the life of her 15-month old toddler. I love how she captioned them. Take a look.

Sometimes I feel like I see more with my camera than with my eyes.
Our Sam’s only 4 1/2 months and we have a gazillion pics already!
Btw, we’ve given you a blogger award. You can check it out here: http://thetaleofbabyriser.blogspot.com/2010/05/our-first-blogger-award.html
Well thanks for the idea ladies! This was my favorite picture-taking activity during Mason’s first year. This year I’ll do it every 3 months.
In case there is anyone out there who hasn’t used Picnik to edit pictures, it is a free (and super fun) way to add captions and do lots of other editing on your pictures. http://www.picnik.com
For each of my kids, from age 1 to 2, I kept a list of something they did each and every day. Because I found that during that time their growth was just amazing and I never wanted to forget all of the cute, random and routine things they did. Each month I printed out the page and put it in their scrapbook along with that month’s pictures. I love to just read through a list every once and a while and take a trip down memory lane.
I did a 365 day project of my son’s first year of life
I didn’t get fancy – although photography is a hobby of mine and I have a couple of nice, expensive DSLR’s – I shot almost every pic with my canon point and shoot – but it was an amazing archive of his first year. It also came in handy when I needed to research milestones hit thru the year for a year end card I sent to family and friends.

I tried to keep it going after the year was up and I did maintain it for a little while – but the best part of the blog is the first 365 days.
I was looking for a new way of blogging updates about him to friends & family so maybe a day in the life once a month is the way to go! And thanks for the info about picnik – will check that out.
