Becoming a new parent is lonely business. One of your biggest jobs in the first year — after keeping baby alive, of course — is to build your support system.
Even though you may be nowhere near ready to leave the baby with someone else, it is a good time to tap your network (moms group, friends who are parents, trustworthy teenagers, online groups and apps, a nearby preschool, etc.) to familiarize yourself with pricing and options with regards to paid childcare.
My parents live in Ohio and Alec’s live in Massachusetts, so we had to do a little digging. While you’re at it, find out what childless friends would like to play with your baby or sit at home watching your TV so you and your mate can get a date. If this is too scary, try again next month.
