This sweepstakes is now closed. Random winner is… 133.

I recently found myself describing DUPLOs as the “gateway LEGO.” The are the perfect intro to construction for chubby-fisted toddlers and the parents who can’t wait til they’re old enough to play with the real thing. Our family’s first set was a Bob the Builder bundle from my sister-in-law. We built it to the package specifications exactly once, and since then, have continuously used it to invent new structures for the last four years. Talk about a toy that lasts.
We are excited to offer an amazing prize package of four sets of DUPLO for one lucky family (approximately $140 value).
In addition to the Horse Stables and the Big Farm (pictured), we are throwing in the Farm Nursery set (baby lamb, foal and kitten with a little farm girl) and an 80-piece DUPLO Building Fun set (AKA a big box of building bricks) so you can create anything you want!
DUPLO blocks are recommended for ages 18 months to 5 years. They get plenty of play in my house when we want to build something HUGE.
How to win:
Comment below sharing something you or your partner just couldn’t wait for your baby to be ready to do. (Ride a bike, calculus, swim? Anything goes…it was playing with tiny Legos and Transformers in my house!). We’ll choose a winner on December 15, 2010 from all applicable entries.

Disclosure: We are working with the good folks at LEGO this holiday season and they provided this awesome prize package for one of our readers. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Scott, has been excited by all the stages…but when she started building with blocks…it was so much fun to see how enthralled he was by “how” she built with the blocks…he’s an engineer…there was suddenly a mental connection!
My daughter is 11 months old. My husband can’t wait for her to start walking… me… not so much. as I see what she gets into while crawling, I don’t want to see how this is going to multiply as she starts to walk. I can’t wait to see her start to play and use her imagination, like pretending to cook.
SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT! And she started crashing out for 11 hours a night at 13 weeks! Those first three months of colic were killing us!
My husband has been wanting to buy Legos and Playmobil sets since we got married, years before our son was born. I’ve been making him wait, but since our son is Duplo age now, I guess it’s time to let him have it!
I’m looking forward to being able to having my son help me in the kitchen like I used to help my mother. I’m also looking forward to science projects (I used to be a science teacher).
Wow, love this prize package. You guys are awesome.
Anyway, when our son was born we couldn’t wait for him to start laughing and enjoying life. His laugh is so contagious and it always makes me feel so happy every time I hear it.
We could not wait for our son to be able to say mama and daddy! And of course all of the words after
I can’t wait to take her camping and hiking. To show her the wonderful great outdoors and teach her about bugs and flowers. We also can’t wait until she recognizes us and reaches for us. Toywise, my mom got her a doll that’s exactly like the one I had when I was little (haven’t ever seen it on the market – she found it on ebay), I’m so glad we had a little girl and I can’t wait to see her enjoy her baby as much as I enjoyed mine. Duplo blocks are awesome and watching her build things (maybe for her doll!) and seeing how her little mind works and figures things out will be great!
Our 10 month old is just about to take his first step! We can’t wait to hold his hands and watch him stomp through the snow!!
My husband would say legos, but I can’t wait until our 10 month old daughter is old enough for crayons! There’s nothing in the world like a brand new 64-pack of crayolas and all of the potential and promise in those sharp waxy tips!
we couldn’t wait for our DD to be able to ride a tricycle.
He can’t wait until she understands football enough to know what’s going on in the game
We can’t wait for the little guy to start skiing. In the mean time the Duplo blocks are great for keeping him busy in the lodge while we take turns skiing.
We couldn’t wait for Matthew to read / we felt we needed to “stimulate” him, so we were trying to get him to focus on board books within a couple of weeks… we didn’t realize that he really just needed to be fed, changed, and to sleep (just like our parents said
) and the stimulating would come later.
I couldn’t wait to put him in the swings at the playground. I wanted him to have fun, of course. But it was also a relaxing thing to do outside and a great way to meet other moms at the playground! The first time he was in the swing, he was all slumped over and chewing on the seat bar in front of him. I don’t know if he was exactly ready, but it was a big milestone for me as a mom!
We are looking forward to our little guy meeting his GRANDPA! Not EXACTLY a milestone but my mama heart is just overflowing for that moment!
In the mean time, he’s been taking his first steps… so walking will not be far off now!
We got one of our wishes fulfilled last week when my husband broke out his old Star Wars toys, which are more than 30 years old, and my son absolutely fell in love with them! So fun to introduce him to Chewbacca and Princess Leia and know all the fun he had ahead. (I also played Star Wars constantly as a kid.) Luckily my husband is in the museum field, so he preserved his toys in their original boxes and had all the pieces. We’ve had a lot of fun “playing” along with him, takes me back to my own childhood.
Can’t wait for my 3 year old to start playing board games, or games in general. Already got him started on some Duplo Legos, and actually bought some other Lego sets for older kids in anticipation of playing with them.
I can’t wait for my still-inside-me baby girl to go to dance class. A tutu on a toddler is totally adorable!
My husband can’t wait until our little dude can start rock climbing with him. I can’t wait until we can read the Harry Potter series and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory together. We both will have to wait a while for these things though, since our son isn’t even 2 yet. We are constantly reminding ourselves of this fact in order to temper our “We can’t wait until….” wishes with enjoying all the everyday fun of life with our 22-month old.
it seems like every stage we felt that way with our son. i’ve always been especially excited for the day he can really read on his own. i am a huge reader, and i can’t wait to read chapter books and share that joy with him.
it’s getting better and better each month, but i can’t wait until she can REALLY craft with me. right now she can paint, color, and draw and i turn those into fun crafts for her. but it’ll be great when she starts putting together the stuff and ideas herself!
My husband can’t wait until he can take our daughter surfing.
We couldn’t wait for our daughter to start walking. Now she is RUNNING everywhere!
I couldn’t wait for my baby boy to start crawling. Now that he is, I can’t wait for him to start talking!
I can’t wait for my son to stop eating his older sister’s crayons. He’s 13 months and loves to tease me by sometimes drawing with the crayons, but quickly switching to nibbling them!
I can’t wait for our DD to actually be here.
Im not due until Feb 2011. I know my husband is really looking forward to the day he can take her to comic book stores. (He’s a huge collector).
My husband couldn’t wait for our son to walk. I was ready for him to talk!
My wife can’t wait for our boys to read. She wants to read chapter books with them but for now we do more board books. I can’t wait for them to be old enough for organized sports. Nest year for our 2 year old to play soccer, our 11 month old still has a little while.
To WALK! Poor guy…he tries so hard and he knows what to do, but the actual effort of getting the legs to do IT is something to watch! He’ll figure it out soon and then LOOK OUT!
Walking was a big one but really only as a means to other things. Walking means running and throwing and catching and all sorts of other fun things. The big one for me was that my in-laws got our son a tiny tee-ball toy that can be used by a little sitting up type baby but the big fun thing is that it can be adjusted so that a toddler can hit the little ball off the tee with a little bat. I really really wanted to see him hit the ball but I knew he’d have to be a standing type kid first. It was really cool once he was walking AND knew enough about baseball (about 18mos.) to really enjoy hitting the ball off the tee.
I also love the way he yells “Tackle! Tackle!” when he runs through a field with a football. Oh, and now that he can stand and move he can catch. And he throws with either hand.
I’m loving this whole playing ball thing he has going on. Yeah, I couldn’t wait for that.
This is wonderful. My son would love this !!!! And it would keep him busy so thats a plus for me ..
I am so excited for my daughter to learn to read (it will be quite a while as she is only one!)..she loves books already, but I can’t wait for her to discover the joy of reading a story on her own and exploring all of the worlds become possible when you open a book!
Talking! We are so ready for our 17 month olds to be able to tell us what they want and be done with the grunt-and-guess game! It was such a mutual relief when our now 3 year old started talking and we know it will be this time around, too!
We couldn’t wait for her to start smiling.
I couldn’t wait for my 1st to talk, but with our second I was so anxious for him to crawl already! He didn’t want to beheld, but he did insist (screamily) that someone be within patting distance at all times. So frustrating! It’s been so much easier since he became mobile. Yes, the messes are bigger, but with a toddler on the loose the place was trashed anyhow. Now I can’t wait for them to learn volume control
Our daughter is almost 18 months old and we can’t wait for her to talk in complete sentences!!! We’re loving all the babbling & partial words and can’t wait for her language explosion!
We couldn’t wait for our son to be potty trained!! He loved the attention, and was able to wear the “big boy pants” everywhere.
What a wonderful prize giveaway!
I couldn’t wait for my little guy to learn to walk so he could keep up with his older brother.
Now that our four month old is especially aware of and excited by his older sister’s presence, we can’t wait for him to be old enough to play and interact with her. You can see the excitement in his eyes whenever he sees her and the grins he flashes her are endless! It will be very heart-warming to see them playing together.
My husband couldn’t wait for our daughter to be old enough to watch The Simpsons with him. Still waiting…
I can’t wait to hear my daughter’s first real laugh – will it be a giggle or a belly laugh? Any day now…!
I couldn’t wait for my kids to sleep through the night!!! Really, I think every single step along the way, I have been excited about the next milestone enjoying every single one of them.
What a cool Duplo set. My daughter is so into farm animals right now and it would be perfect for her. My husband and I can’t wait til she can play for a longer period of time on her own. Hopefully this set will help!
We can’ wait for our bundle of joy to crawl!! He has been trying so hard… lifting his head and then pushing his little chubby legs! It has been an adventure, both of us on the floor encouraging him, holding toys, clapping, laughing and doing funny faces to make him move across the living room! We hope he conquers this milestone any day now!
My husband has been watching Physics lectures every weekend with our 14 month old; I think he can’t wait for him to understand quantum mechanics. I’m just looking forward to him starting to use a few more words…
I’m looking forward to being able to ice skate with my almost 2-year old. I’m still not very good at it but I think it’d be so much fun and my awkwardness would be less noticeable as everyone looks at him
We can’t wait for our almost two year old to stop waking up at night and getting into our bed! And we can’t for him to say “I love you” for the first time without being prompted.
I can’t wait for the little man to start really talking! To be able to talk in little sentences, it will be so cute! My husband is really excited for our son to start playing with matchbox cars, since my hubby still likes them himself!
I can wait for her to talk so that I can actually understand her and eat without making a mess

We couldn’t wait for our son to start walking, and he hasn’t stopped moving since!
