I recently found myself describing DUPLOs as the “gateway LEGO.” The are the perfect intro to construction for chubby-fisted toddlers and the parents who can’t wait til they’re old enough to play with the real thing. Our family’s first set was a Bob the Builder bundle from my sister-in-law. We built it to the package specifications exactly once, and since then, have continuously used it to invent new structures for the last four years. Talk about a toy that lasts.
We are excited to offer an amazing prize package of four sets of DUPLO for one lucky family (approximately $140 value).
In addition to the Horse Stables and the Big Farm (pictured), we are throwing in the Farm Nursery set (baby lamb, foal and kitten with a little farm girl) and an 80-piece DUPLO Building Fun set (AKA a big box of building bricks) so you can create anything you want!
DUPLO blocks are recommended for ages 18 months to 5 years. They get plenty of play in my house when we want to build something HUGE.
How to win:
Comment below sharing something you or your partner just couldn’t wait for your baby to be ready to do. (Ride a bike, calculus, swim? Anything goes…it was playing with tiny Legos and Transformers in my house!). We’ll choose a winner on December 15, 2010 from all applicable entries.

Disclosure: We are working with the good folks at LEGO this holiday season and they provided this awesome prize package for one of our readers. We hope you love it as much as we do!

My husband can’t wait for our daughter (now 8 months) to be able to play baseball or softball! He bought her a nice glove before she was even born. As for me, I’d have to say swimming. I love being in the water, and hope she will, too.
I can’t wait until my 3.5 yo daughter and almost 10 month old son can start playing TOGETHER… it’ll be a load off my back and of course, incredibly adorable.
We couldn’t wait for our son to walk– he was such a late walker. He didn’t take his first steps until 15 1/2 months old. All the other babies in the family were walking at 9-12 months!
We can’t wait for family game night. Our 2 yo son isn’t quite ready to participate yet, but our 4 yo daughter loves Hungry Hippos, Operation, Candyland, and many others!
Both my husband and I can’t wait for our son to ride his bike. He’s only 2, so still in his child trailer, but he’s desperate to ride like his big sister. It will be great when we can all ride together to get some ice cream, feed the ducks, or just get some fresh air… and of course to tire BOTH kids out!
Talk! Luckily he started saying a few things early, but we want more. Or, so we think now.
Coloring! One of my fondest memories as a child was coloring with my mom (who passed away when I was 7) so I can’t wait until my baby girl is old enough to color with me!
Our little girl is one and this whole year my husband has been so excited for her to ride a bike! It’s still pretty far in the future but he’s totally ready! He also bought a bike trailer (thank you craigslist) that is awesome, about month two, and we still haven’t been able to give her her first bike ride. Soon, soon!
pee in the potty…ah….no more diapers….
I can’t wait until my preschooler has the patience to play board games with me. That was always my favorite thing to do with the kids I baby-sat for. He’s interested in games, but is often ready for a new activity by the time we have it set up!
We can’t wait for our girl to sing with us.
I couldn’t wait for my daughter to start playing dress up and using play makeup. Once she started playing with makeup, though, I quickly learned how messy that stuff is! My husband is still waiting until my son is old enough to work on cars with him!
I can’t wait till my youngest is old enough so we can take them all to Disney World! I dream of the look on my 3 son’s faces when we would tell them that we are going and them all jumping up and down all excited!
I can’t wait for all my daughters teeth to come in and for her to be able to go to sleep on her own.
Is it too late to enter? We’re excited for our nearly 1-year old to talk. He gets so frustrated trying to “express” himself
Ride a bike!
my husband could not wait till my son (7 on Sunday) could talk….. now he wont shut up.
