I was recently introduced into the world of Aveda where I had never fully gone before. Oh sure, I had hoarded fancy hotel shampoo and conditioner but I hadn’t done the full shebang before this month. A local salon devoted to the Aveda lifestyle treated us to haircuts and it was a completely lovely experience including a lavender-infused head massage. Ahhh.

I watched a video on How To Texturize Short hair. I learned a few interesting styling techniques while blow drying your hair that I’ll have to try!
I watched the video on How To Add Volume to Medium Hair and the most useful tip which I have never heard of before was the technique called “flat-wrapping.” This means that you blow dry the hair in one direction at the root, and then comb to the opposite direction and repeat. This gives volume on straight hair, even thick hair like mine. I also LOVED the brush they used in the video with the seperating pick thingy. I’ve been to Aveda for my first time recently as well. I didn’t color my hair the entire time I was preggy and I have been a color freak since I was 13…so I was really excited! Plus, getting my hair colored helped me feel like a real person again and not just another hermit-new-mom-blob! Hooray!
The how to video on making coarse hair straight was amazing. I wish I had the time, energy and products to make my hair that smooth and straight. I especially liked the information on the best type of brush to use and how drying your hair in sections and from root to end results in a salon ready hairstyle!
I watched how to make coarse hair straight and smooth. Two pieces of info I found most useful was to brush roots in both directions (I was only doing it in one all this time) and to use a fine tooth comb on the hairline (I could never figure out how to keep those hairs flat and smooth). I’m definitely trying these techniques out today though I’m sure products make a huge difference as well.
Checked out a couple of vids. I liked the styling ones (the wrap/updo and the sleek/messy low pony tail). I also checked out the making coarse hair straight vid that everyone above commented on as well as the adding texture to short hair. Great tips except I have a short/med bob and can’t really use any of the techniques except maybe for the blowdrying technique in the making coarse hair straight. Would love to try the products as I’ve only had the opportunity to try hotel samples, which I hoard every time I find them on a trip! thanks for the opportunity!
I watched the video on how to add volume to medium hair. I learned that it’s best to separate your hair into sections to make it easier to style and blow dry. I need to remember that! Thanks!
I watched how to make a semi-matte complexion. 2 things I that were different than what I do were applying tinted moisture and the concealer with a complexion brush and applying the cheek color up to the temple.
I watched the video Making course hair straight. I realized I need to blow dry my hair in sections, that it takes time and that products and hairbrushes can make your hair smoother. I love the way Aveda products smell, my sister has been using them for years and her hair always smells so good.
I watched the video “how to add volume to fine hair” I never would have guessed that you should style your hair in sections to create more volume. If only I had the time
I watched Defined Curls for Naturally Curly Hair. I learned some style techniques (twisting small sections of hair around my finger to define curls) that I will definitely have to try on days I don’t feel like straightening!
oh a volumizing spray would be great! and hair drying with hair upside down is another option for creating volume.
I learned how to add volume to fine hair

I watched the video for Defined Curls for Naturally Curly Hair, because I have two girls with curly ringlets. I learned that using my fingers to twist sections would get really defined curls.
I admit that I did not watch the video (crazy day… sick kids… traveling for work tomorrow… husband away) so no prize for me, but I had to comment on the photograph. You both look so pretty and so happy!
Curling the hair first is something I wasn’t aware of. Nice tip!
I know know how to deal with making my crazy hair straight!! THANK YOU.
I just watched the how to video on straightening coarse hair..WOW have I ever been doing my hair “wrong” for years! Who knew sectioning the hair off would make it easier. Plus, blow drying the thickest section of hair in one direction, then the opposite side would make a huge difference. Ready to try out some of these techniques asap! Thanks!
I watched the how to add volume video! I learned to use high heat and high speed after putting the product in, and then I learned to style my hair in sections rather than try to style it all at once, which I normally do. I hope I win this giveaway! I love AVEDA!
I watched the video about fine hair since I have really fine hair! It is always good to have tricks to add volume, although I can’t remember the last time I actually blow dried my hair
maybe when the baby gets older.
I learned how to use the Be Curly products on wavy hair to enhance curls
I watched the video “How to Add Volume to Fine Hair.” I never knew that the way you blew dry your hair would make any difference as to volume. Always thought it was all about the products. Can’t wait to try seperating my hair into sections and trying it that way tomorrow!
I just watched the how to video on styling for straight hair. I didn’t know that you should apply straightening serum in sections and the the roots first. Guess I will be adding a new task to my morning hair routine!
i learned how to create a sleek and chic look that is in the 1960′s style – i wish i had more skills and doing my hair, and learned a bunch from the video!

cool! I love Aveda. I watched the Fine hair video and learned about “flat wrapping” which is similar to something my hairstylist taught me about drying my bangs – she described it as “windshield wipers” technique!
I watched how to add volume to fine hair. Can’t wait to try the blow dry techniques

I learned about Flat Wrapping-very helpful!
I liked the video about defining curls. No more frizz
I really enjoyed learning about creating a sleek look for my hair. The frizz can be unruly at times and look like a kid, so I learned a lot from that video.
I watched a great video about creating volume, i will definitely use some of the tips for making my hair look voluminous
my twitter entry http://twitter.com/kimagg53/status/81914105560170496
I learned about straightening hair. I saw how they protect the hair with product to keep the heat from damaging it and then are sure all the sections are straightened one by one.

I learned that having thin hair doesn’t mean you can’t have volume…I’m going to try the velco rollers and using the hair dryer on high heat, low speed to help create volume with my thin hair!

I watched the defined curls video and got some good ideas (specific products and finger twisting) for my daughter’s unruly curls!
I watched the straightening for course hair video. I personally LOVE the way Aveda products smell and feel (good on so many levels!) and will have to try this technique out one day if I ever have time between my 4yr old and 6mo old.
(Also gonna tweet about this! @gdeltoro)
