Omigod, once again I am totally serious and unsmiley in this Ragu video clip. What is my problem? I really am proud that I’m giving my kids the dinner experience I dreamed of as a kid. I am happy! I should be smiling when I describe it! Instead, I look like I’m discussing foreign policy.
Today we have THREE $100 gift cards to giveaway. Ragu is wrapping up their Mom’s The Word on Dinner campaign (a series of videos that I appeared in) and wants to celebrate by allowing you to splurge on something that will make you smile.
Here’s the deal: Comment below and tell us what you’d do with $100 that is related to FAMILY DINNER.
Enter only once. (Subsequent entries from the same email address will be deleted.)
On December 5, I will select three winners at random via computer. The three lucky winners will receive a $100 Amex Gift Card that can be used wherever American Express is accepted. Good luck!

I would put the 100 buckaroos toward a kitchenaid mixer. Making homemade wheat bread has been a “dinner goal” for me for awhile.
Buy a new, fancy crockpot that auto switches to warm. This working momma gig is really, really hard and the crockpot makes my life easier! Sometimes I cook overnight, the fridge and re-warm because I’m gone during the day longer than the recipe …
I would put the $100 towards really good tupperware that I can use to freeze future meals! I am expecting my first baby in May, and I would like to be able to plan ahead meals so that I am not always scrounging at the last minute for meals to make, usually leaving us with the same boring meals (grilled cheeses, pasta…).
I would buy buy a slow cooker and make some healthy pasta meals for my family!
I would use part of it to buy a new programmable crock pot! With the hectic life we lead with two working parents, we depend on our crockpot, which could use a facelift…also I would get a bread maker. Nothing says cozy dinner like soup and bread! Especially because we live in Anchorage, Alaska.
I would buy lots of healthy groceries for my family to enjoy cooking together!
I’d splurge on a pasta maker…and or a new bread machine…the kids lost the little mixer thingie that goes in mine!
I would use it toward a super cool food processor/blender that I am coveting now after just leaving a playdate where smoothies were whipped up with ease…
I would go straight to Wholefoods and purchase those THREE items I have been wanting to try.
Just kidding! For 100 bucks I could probably at least get 5 things
:) Well maybe 4 and a half….
A good set of mixing bowls + plates that aren’t chipped + a good cookie sheet + a good can opener + a good table cloth + money towards a dishwasher that works… oh my! so many things we’d like to get!
i would prepare a gourmet meal and completely splurge on groceries. plus chicken fingers and fries for the little one
i’d update our plastic “kids plates” and cups. i’m tired of the plastic and my littlest one isn’t ready for the grown-up ones. then the rest i’d put towards our yummy CSA box.
I’d probably order dinner a bunch of times so that I can spend the pre-dinner with my daughter rather than turning on the TV so we can dinner on the table.
I would put the money toward are next farm share (CSA) basket so we can eat as much locally grown produce as possible!
I would buy some holiday dinnerware. I’ve always loved those snowflake plates but never felt like it was something I had to have. But my kids would LOVE eating off snowflake plates, and if I win, I’d splurge on them!
New plates! Ours are all chipped and scratched. Maybe some new pots and pans too!
I’d buy new cookware to make meals for my family.
I would use it to invest in a deep freezer so that I can have plenty of go to, already prepared meals on crazy busy days.
Does a handheld vac count as related to Family Dinner? Its for the cleanup. Anyway, that is what I’d get. Or maybe I could buy time with it.
I would buy lots of organic fruits, veggies, milk and meats to make healthy meals for the family!
I would use it to replace our toaster oven that just died. We really need the extra oven space during the holidays.
Id like to purchase some fancy serving dishes and some fresh fruit with leftover $$.
Ps by fancy serving dishes I mean plain white ceramic dishes.
More CSA food boxes!
I would really like to get my husband some “starter” cook books so that he can chip in on making dinner. We work the same amount of hours but I end up cooking 95% of the dinners in our house.
I’d probably use $100 to pay a babysitter so that I could take some time to sit and write out some meal plans with accompanying recipes and grocery lists. I think family dinner would happen more easily if I did that!
I’d put it towards our garden for next year so we could try some new and different veggies!!
I would use the money for groceries for Christmas dinner.
A microwave! We have a convection oven out of principle but I really miss my microwave.
I would also buy a great slow cooker so we could finally have dinner ready on time and eat together as a family.
I hate to ditto people, but I would absolutely get fancy ingredients and make my husband filet mignon, a cobbler and have some nice wine. Would be a great splurge at home! Plus, I’d purchase a new skillet. Mine are all SO scratched up.
I would get new measuring spoons, we seem to have lost half of ours, and I think its called a mandolin??? That thing that you cM slice veggies with. Then I would get Thai for me and the hubby and pizza for the girls, guilt free.
I think I’d buy personalized tableware for my kiddos, since I think they’d love that and be excited enough to maybe sit still through a whole meal (they’re 4 and almost 2). I’d also let them choose fruits and veggies that interest them at the store and then cook dinner together.
A programmable slow cooker/crockpot!!! The rest of the $ would go towards ingredients towards meals to be cooked in the slow cooker.
This would be great to get some kind of mixer or blender, to add some fun snacks and smoothies to a family dinner.
I would buy a nice juicer/blender for making smoothies.
I will use the $100 to buy a new grill/griddle combo so that we can continue to grill food inside during the Winter. We’re really missing our salmon burgers and grilled veggies!
I would put the money towards a slow cooker—I am always coming across delicious sounding recipes that I want to try. Plus, with a 2nd little one on the way, I love the idea of being able to prep dinner and then have it cook without me watching it.
I would resubscribe to our local CSA for some farm-fresh veggies!
I would get some plates, bowls and cups. None of ours match, nor do we have full sets of anything.
I would buy a booster seat for my two year old (she is soooo done with her high chair) and buy new table cloths, candle holders, and/or plates for dinner at the table!
I would buy a couple weeks of organic produce thru a CSA to try it out.
I would put it toward baby food-making gear (food processor, freezer trays, etc) to get my baby off to a good, healthy homemade food start.
I would love to put it towards a nicer kitchen table that isn’t a wobbly hand-me-down
I would put it towards a neat breadmaker, that I have been saving towards. A breadmaker would be so nice to make fresh bread to go with homemade soups that just don’t taste as good with store bought bread. I was spoiled when my mother in law loaned us hers and now she has it back and I really miss the breadmaker!
I would use it to get an ice cream maker. Even though it’s winter now, I love the idea of being able to make homemade ice cream as a family!
I would buy a full body smock for my messy 1 year old. And the rest would go to a blender so we can make some delicious fruit juices and freeze them for popcicles and waffle maker because waffles are my daughters favorite.
I would use it towards a Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker, as I am pregnant and would like to take a stab at making my own food when baby is ready for solids. Maybe that sounds optimistic… blame it on the hormones!
I would put the $100 towards a special holiday dinner for my family….maybe a roast for me and my hubby….and a big batch of homemade mac & cheese for the little one.
I would love to use that money towards 1 or 2 little crockpots. I have a big one but now that I realize how awesome it is I want little ones to make side dishes at the same time.
Bread Mixer! We try to eat as unprocessed as possible, but with both of us working it’s hard to hit every item. Homemade bread would be healthy and cheap!
