Omigod, once again I am totally serious and unsmiley in this Ragu video clip. What is my problem? I really am proud that I’m giving my kids the dinner experience I dreamed of as a kid. I am happy! I should be smiling when I describe it! Instead, I look like I’m discussing foreign policy.
Today we have THREE $100 gift cards to giveaway. Ragu is wrapping up their Mom’s The Word on Dinner campaign (a series of videos that I appeared in) and wants to celebrate by allowing you to splurge on something that will make you smile.
Here’s the deal: Comment below and tell us what you’d do with $100 that is related to FAMILY DINNER.
Enter only once. (Subsequent entries from the same email address will be deleted.)
On December 5, I will select three winners at random via computer. The three lucky winners will receive a $100 Amex Gift Card that can be used wherever American Express is accepted. Good luck!

I would splurge on some steaks and some decadent desserts that we could all share for a family dinner.
Thanks for the chance!
If I won a $100 gift card I would buy some nice stainless steal pots. I love having dinner with us all together. And my old pots are pretty hammered.
I hope I win!
I would use it to get some benches to go with our dining table-something easy for my kids to climb up on so they’re eager to come to dinner. And maybe some fun dishes.
I would go all out and buy choices for my kid to help create a family dinner like pasta mix ins or pizza toppings and spend the evening not only eating together, bu cooking together.
As we have many years of family dinners ahead of us (with our 9 month old and hopefully more kiddos to come), I would invest in some kid-appropriate but also design-friendly placements and table decor that make the table a beautiful and functional place for our family.
Healthy stuff is usually the more expensive options for dinnertime, so I’d splurge on a load of healthy food to serve my fam!
I would buy a cast-iron, two-burner griddle so that I could easily make breakfast (pancakes!) for dinner!
I’d grab a whole lotta fresh veggies to have fun trying out new recipes with!
I would buy a new, bigger, programable crock pot to make it easier for us all to sit down together. My old one is beat and not much help now that we have four of us.
I would buy an slow cooker to make roast meat and beans. They are great and you can make few meals and storage them in the freezer.
I would use the $100 to stock up on some organic meat…maybe do a csa farm share with lots of veggies for our family dinners!
I would put it toward a kitchenaid stand mixer so that baking fresh whole wheat bread for my husband and daughter can become an easier process.
I would spend it at the container store organizing my kitchen and then the rest on take out so I can have a night off. Does that count?
I would buy myself some new crockpots (because our is falling apart). This way it would be less hectic before dinner and much more enjoyable.
I’d buy a slow cooker so that we could have full-fledged meals that I didn’t scramble together (literally, we eat a lot of eggs in our house) at the last minute..
I would spent it at whole foods getting some yummy food for my daughter!
My daughter’s allergy testing last week revealed that she has outgrown several food allergies. I would use the gift card to introduce her to several foods she’s never had the opportunity to try, and recipes my husband and I have been missing!
I would splurge on some good organic grass fed meats to keep in the freezer to pull out rather than going out to eat!
You’re brave, Whitney! nice job
As far as dinner… I’d like to say I’d try something adventurous with ingredients like “creme fraiche” and fancy mushrooms… but in all honesty I’m sure I’d just re-stock the pantry (which is so needing it after holidays).
I’d buy a rice cooker!
I’d spend it on organic produce and dairy products.
I would buy some new plates to help us all enjoy dinner a bit more every day.
I would use $100 to help buy a share of a cow. Nothing so delicious as organic, humanely raised ground beef in my spaghetti sauce! (And I’m not just sucking up to Ragu…)
I would use it to buy more chairs, currently we only have two and we will soon be a family of four! If I had any left over, I’d buy “newborn mommy” friendly meals or ingredients. Trying to get ready for baby #2!
I would buy a high chair for this beautiful baby girl we are expecting in April. We always try to have dinner at the table even with just the two of us right now, so having high chair where the 3 of us can all be at table would be perfect.
I would supplement my weekly grocery trip with a trip to Whole Foods, New Seasons, and/or Trader Joes to get some healthy organic deliciousness.
I would choose organic only! Ohh and get some Italian cookies from the bakery for the whole family – just like my grandmother used to do.
I’d get some lamb to cook on the grill and some other fresh fruits and veggies.
I would use the money to make a beautiful Italian style feast for my extended family. It would be great to all be together.
I would love to get one of those triple slow cookers to use for a Holiday meal.
I would like to use it to cook a huge dinner for our family and extended family and friends. I love having everyone over for dinners!
A giftcard would be very helpful in providing meals for my family during the Christmas holiday season. All my siblings and the grandkids gather at my folks house for Christmas for fellowship and presents and, of course, food! 2 parents, 10 kids, 5 spouses, and 7 grandkids makes for a lot of mouths to feed but my mom always pulls it off. We all gather in the dining room, finding seats at one of the 3 available tables, and enjoy eachothers company over dinner. It’s always great fun and full of laughter.
I would spend it on food:). Yummy organic meat and produce. We enjoy sitting down to dinner together and my 2 yr old even gets upset if we’re not all there on time:). We’re lucky enough to sit down together for breakfast and dinner most every day for home cooked meals:)
$100…DATE NIGHT! I can’t remember the last time my husband and I went out for the kind of dinner we want.
I’d buy some not non-stick pans. (stick pans?) we’re trying to change out our existing Teflon-coated set but the “green” options can be pricey. Btw, your comments introducing the video totally cracked me up. Foreign policy, ha ha…
I would simply buy groceries for the week. Money is tighter than ever right now and that would get us many good meals together.
I would totally use it for a date night, and let the sitter worry about what to feed the kids for one night
I would host my extended family for a dinner just like my grandma used to do. She died this spring, so I have missed spending the time with aunts, uncles, and cousins. I hope I win!
I’d use it to stock up my freezer with easy to prepare things my husband can fix. We have a 2 year old and are expecting a second kid in early January, so I’m more than a little swamped this holiday trying to get ready!
I would put the money towards our new kitchen – our oven died almost a year ago, so dinner has been a challenge – the grill, crockpot, and toaster oven have made for some “creative” meals!
Real but kid friendly utensils and dishes for my new eater (probably from etsy)…and the rest to support our local “meet n eat” to provide weekly meals for the needy in our community.
I would love to be able to stock my freezer with freezer meals. $100 would go a long way to buying those ingredients and simplifying my family’s life a little bit.
I would put $100 towards a new table. Our is from when i was little and has been past around. Its time for a new one!
I’d use the $100 to buy a large 2-burner skillet so I could make more than one pancake at a time.
I would splurge on healthy fruits, vegetables, and then some fabulous seafood!
I have HIGH hopes of making more dinner schedules this coming year. I’m frequently flying by the seat of my pants when it comes to “what is for dinner”. SO…I would do a couple things…one, make a weekly schedule pretty enough to display in my kitchen..there are many cute dry erase one’s flying around pinterest. That of course, will not cost $100…so with the remaining I’d like to have a few gadgets that can help me cook, even when I am not home – a programmable crock-pot & a rice cooker are currently at the top of my list!
If I won the $100.00 gift card I would be SUPER excited!!!! I would buy a bunch of fresh veggies and fish…I would make my family a three course, healthy dinner…of course adding in a little dessert too:)
If I got the $100, I would have my kids go grocery shopping with me, make a menu for the next few weeks & have them help me cook the meals! I would also try to explain to them the cost of food (my sons are only 3 & 4 but they get the idea of things costing $) and have them appreciate it!
I would buy some new pots, organic first baby food for my daughter, and some staples to keep in our cupboards.
I would take the family out for dinner to celebrate us. My 4-year old and I work on most of the meals together and my one-year is joining in by ‘helping’. My husband does the dishes, so we’d take a night out and go have fun.
