Contest is closed. “Is that a travel Boppy?” the other mom said to me with obvious envy. We had both just emerged from a five-hour flight, I with my three sons and she with her nine-month old. I nodded as I jiggled Sawyer in the front carrier and tried to get the bigger boys to sit still while we waited for Alec to reclaim the gate-checked stroller and car seat. [Sorry I don't have a photo of me in this scenario. Honestly, who would have taken it?]
She continued, “Wow, I just sat on this flight with him in my lap and my wrists and hands falling asleep.”
In that moment, I wanted to give her my Boppy travel pillow (available for order at babiesrus.com) to save a rookie mom from the plight of not being able to adjust her arms during a cross-country flight for fear of waking a sleeping baby. But I also want to save it for myself for next time. Sorry, lady.
Yes, it’s just one more thing to carry. But it’s a really lightweight thing that has a strap and easily clips to other things. Once you make it onto the airplane, it unfolds into a nearly full-size nursing pillow that can clip around your waist giving the babe a comfy place to lay down.
Great for new moms who need a nursing pillow on a trip or any baby mama who doesn’t buy an airplane seat for the kiddo.
Want to win a Boppy travel pillow of you own?!
We’re happy to give away one Boppy travel pillow (pictured above), Boppy nursing cover, and a Boppy infant car seat handle cushion (oh my aching hands!) to a reader (retail value $85) who posts a comment below. Simply tell us about a time you wished you had a third hand for dealing with your baby and you will be entered to win. We will choose a winner at random on January 12th. I could always use a third hand since I have twins!!
Oh, man, I need a third hand all the time! Any time I’m trying to open a door with the child carrier, baby bag, and groceries, etc. Any time I’m trying to feed my 7 mo old a bottle and work at the same time. How about for any diapering. He’s gotten to where he wants to touch everything everywhere and when he’s got a poopy diaper, that’s the last place I want his hands. Finally, any time I’m trying to hold him, put together his bottle and his two year old nephew decides now is the perfect time to play catch with me, whether I’m willing or not. Trying to shield my baby from flying objects would definitely be easier with a third hand!
I could have used a third hand while traveling over the holidays! Poor baby could not get comfy to sleep on the plane – this would have been a lifesaver!
ummm… I ALWAYS need a third hand! But especially when picking up my daughter from daycare, what with my bag, the pump, her bag, her accumulated crap from the day, AND her all in my arms…YUP.
Last year we went to Mexico for my baby’s baptism. It was me and the huz (who is not as comfortable with international travel and also doesn’t speak English), my sister, the 7-month-old baby, and 6-yr-old and 4-yr-old boys. The wait for luggage and trek through customs in Mexico on the way there, and in Houston on the way back definitely made me wish I had extra arms. Good thing I was well-rested and could think straight….oh wait…
Everyday I wish I had a third hand. There is just to much to do
I wish I had three arms when I give my son his nebulizer treatments…. I have to hold him and then hold the mask over his face and try to entertain him! Oh my! It is exhausting!
I could use a 3rd hand when bringing the baby home from daycare, between bottles, the car seat, the diaper bag, his daily report sheet, my hands are full – still getting the hang of it all with an 11 week old!
I haven’t needed a third hand yet since I’m pregnant with my first but I’ll be traveling alone on a 4 hour flight to a family member’s high school graduation in May with an 8 week old and will need all the help I can get! My husband can’t come on the trip so my first time traveling with a baby will be ALONE! I can only imagine what my juggling act will look like!
I am so excited to see this product from Boppy! I have a daughter who will turn 4 next Wednesday, a son who is 2 1/2 years, and I am 16 weeks pregnant.
I could have used a third hand when we were traveling internationally with our 3 month old daughter from Tokyo to Hokkaido on mommy’s lap the whole way… (A travel Boppy!!! Who knew, right?!) AND later when she was ten months old and we moved back to the US via several connecting flights, with lots of luggage!
Any time I’m nursing in public I wish I had a third hand. This travel boppy would be perfect!
Picking up my 11 week old girl from day care is tough……but then trying to get us both into the house (with all of our stuff) is even tougher. We haven’t been able to do any traveling (on a plane) with her yet…..but I’m sure this travel pillow would come in handy when nursing anywhere you are not at home!
I took my 2mo old and 3yr old on a flight (on my own!) when visiting my parents in Texas. Although they were both really well-behaved on the flight, I really could have used a third hand hauling them, the baby gear, stroller, and our luggage around the airport!
Oh, I could use that for our upcoming vacation–I have bad wrists, and holding the baby for long gives me days of pain. But I’m the only one who can nurse her to sleep! (And I’m going to make my husband deal with the three-year-old)
Oh so many times I’ve wished I’d had a third hand. I have a feeling I’m going to want a fourth after the new little one arrives. I can’t imagine how I’m going to get the 3 year old, the new born and all of our stuff in and out of the car in an efficient manner.
I could have used this during our many trips to grandmas house over the holidays. Anything that minimizes the amount of things that get packed into the car. Also during our holiday shopping.
Definitely need a third hand when poo explosions happen and it’s in the front and baby likes to grab down there! It gets ugly and dirty eeks!
I always wish for a third hand when walking my toddler and the dog at the same time.
I ditto the daycare comment. First I tote in the car seat, bottles of expressed milk, whatever other supplies he’s out of that day and my bag. Then I get my son all bundled up and tote out empty bottles, his daily chart, the car seat, HIM, and my bag. Oh and did I mention I have to take off my shoes before entering the classroom? I would love a third hand!
I haven’t needed a 3rd hand yet because baby’s not due for a month, but foresee many a plane ride where a travel boppy would come in super handy!
I’d say that I wish I had a third hand when changing diapers- to plug my nose for the real stinky ones!
I’ve traveled many times to visit my grandma in Florida with my babies on my lap. This would help- especially with trying to nurse during takeoff and landing!!!
This is awesome! We never flew with our first out of fear but now I’m a rookie travel mom with a 2 yr old and a baby:/. And we moved 2 states away from family…..I will need this soon!
A third hand would come in handy ANYTIME we leave the house!
With a 2yo and a 9mo, I often need two hands! I am not a cool, calm, collected traveler, and we’ve only attempted short car trips now that we have 2 kids. I could’ve used this when a certain fussy baby would only sleep when I was holding her in a chair. I loved the cuddles, but my arms got mighty tired after 2 hours!
This would be so useful for the holiday travels that we will invariably have to do!
Ever since my son was born a year ago, I have thought that growing a 3rd arm should happen during pregnancy. I am typing this one handed as I hold my super squirmy 12 month that has been trying to tear apart my office for the past 5 minutes.
Any time I come home from shopping I’d love a third hand or eighty of them. I know when we fly to Idaho in a few weeks with our 5 month old I’m gonna need a few extra hands too!
Wow, I could really use one of those. I have never seen them before and even if I don’t win, I might have to buy one pretty quick. I have a 2 month old right now and travel all the time.
Uh, the question should be when have I NOT wished I had a third hand! Just got done traveling alone with my 2.5 year old, which went well- but I imagine when the next one arrives things will get more complicated!
I could us a third arm during the day since my 5 week old will only nap in my arms.
Lets see when do I wish I had had a third hand… every day since my kiddo was born. On flights, at friends houses, at the park, at the grocery store. In fact, one time at Costco my little guy was not feeling great and was super sleepy but we were out of TP so the Costco trip had to happen. I actually took off my sweatshirt, rolled it into a pillow and propped it on a tub of butter so my little guy could rest his head. Could have used a boppy travel pillow then!
I like to take my older kids to the movie when I have a newborn. I actually sometimes just bring the full size pillow for comfort!
Traveling by car for 6 hours without hubby!
When I slipped and fell and broke my ankle when my son was only 6 months old. I could have really used an extra hand then with him
I would like to have a third hand for those times when I’m trying to make myself dinner while holding my little guy!
I could use a third hand from the beginning. I thought with a toddler it get easier, but I find that even though she can walk, I still carry a ton of stuff around.
When juggling baby and puppy in a long car ride….. man I could have used a prop pillow
While trying to work from home and take care of an infant
straining pasta…when our little one will not sleep unless being held and dinner needs to be made at the same time. ugh!
I have a toddler and a newborn…I always need a third hand especially when both want to eat at the same time!
My family of four (including me, my husband, 2 yr old and 1 month old) travel frequently. I particularly find I need a third hand whenever I nurse in public. I’d LOVE a travel boppy, what a great product!
When I was flying alone with a 3 month old this would have come in very handy!
Pretty much every day but especially in the car… I feel like I’m always nursing in the front seat and now he’s getting so heavy!!
I wish I had a third hand so I could eat an entire meal while it was still warm. I’d also use my third hand to fold laundry while the baby was awake.
whoa I would love this! I could use a third hand EVERY DAY TWICE A DAY when I have to haul my three kids out the door, to church, and, up two flights of stairs to drop off and pick up the oldest from preschool. LIKE WHOA.
I really needed a third hand the first time I went out on my own with my new baby. I had to go to my 6 week checkup with my midwife, and I was a bundle of nerves making sure that I got our little girl all ready to go. Of course the office was running behind, so I anxiously waited in the waiting room while she began to get restless. After I finally went back for the checkup, she promptly filled her diaper, and then some (the only item I didn’t pack in the diaper bag? a new outfit…) – and then she started started screaming right when my feet hit the stirrups. Sigh.
I could use a third hand while carrying my purse, the diaper bag, and lunch box in from the car while my toddler insists on getting the mail from the mailbox and unlocking the door herself!
I need a third hand all the time…but especially when I’m carrying the baby, bags, and trying to unlock the door…all while not letting the cats escape once I do open the door!
We leave for H
