No girls allowed:The official contest in honor of Tonka’s birthday offers a prize of being visited by a life-size Tonka truck filled with play-size Tonka toys. See rules at details here.
RookieMoms is offering a random subscriber to our newsletter (of any gender) a big ol’ Tonka dump truck. I don’t know what it’s like in a house of girls, but I can say that Holden loves his diggers and dump trucks.
Mamas, do your girls play with trucks too?

My 3 year old daughter absolutely plays with trucks and trains (reads about them, loves to watch them, the whole deal). She just wears a tutu while doing it and takes breaks to nurse and diaper her baby doll. She really, really wants *pink* Thomas underwear. So far we haven’t found such a thing. The amaxing thing is how much of their gender roles seem to be unavoidable. I really noticed the difference at around 2 1/2 when at daycare the girls were sitting at the table painting and comparing clothes while the boys were running in circles throwing toy cars at each other. (With exceptions of course).
it makes me sad that tonka is only asking for Tonka Boys…I loved my brother’s trucks and my mom bought me my own tonka when i was litte…i’d love to enter the contest, there are plenty of kiddos in the family who could benefit from a truckload of tonka, but a part of me just can’t bring myself to enter when they are not thinking of the gals.
Yes, my daughter is definitely into cars and trucks. She drives them around and says “rrrmmm, rrrmmm.” Her current favorite, though, is finding tunnels around the house for her train to go through. Choo, choo!
