I was shopping in Target with Holden. We needed pajamas. He found some.
I loathed them: the licensed character, the polyester. Ick. Double Ick.
He was so very happy.
“Mommy, you like cool things and I like cool things”
So we bought them.

Um, yeah. Gabriel has been wearing his Mr. Incredible costume since Halloween. We have since added gloves and a mask.
Yeah, but look how adorable he is in them! If anyone can do something for cheaply made, polyester, China produced, jammies, it’s small boy.
and the trouble is that they want to wear them all the time…out in public. my husband finally put his foot down about my 4 yr. old’s peter pan costume, “you can wear it at home, but not to church!”
Ah yes, I just had the same moment over the bicycles the grandparents bought for Christmas. They want to buy the girls princess bikes with flashing lights and glittery tassels and I picture myself having to hide under a large hat whenever I take them out because I loathe advertising on any products we own and I think a bike should be a bike not an amusement park. But I decided to take a deep breath and let the grandparents buy what they love and I know my girls will be ecstatic. So I let joy win out over my own need for control!
On the plus side, I just realized that if I let him wear his Mr. Incredible costume to bed every night, he initiates his own bed time routine. He asks for a bath because he knows he’ll become Dash/Mr. Incredible immediately after! Hmmm….maybe this isn’t so bad, after all.
As a funny side note, once we bought these (awful) jammies, I thought for sure we would be able to double dip and have Halloween sorted. But, no! He actually wanted to be a pumpkin.
In this photo, he is wearing his jammies on Halloween to a pumpkin patch. For trick or treat, he wore his jammies UNDER his homemade pumpkin costume and was Super Pumpkin.
Gotta love the imagination.
A Super Pumpkin! Cute!!!
Here is Elliott’s peter pan costume. great costume and all, but the green pants are actually his 2 year old sister’s spandex leggings. and now he thinks they are his uniform and regularly raids her drawers for more. and let me tell you, my son gets hot when he’s playing and tends to remove his shirt. you don’t want to see a 4 year old boy in tight leggings with no shirt. its just wrong! ha!
