I did this just 2 days ago with my 3 kids (6, 3 and 10 months). We LOVE our local library here in DC and it has a separate children's floor which is wonderful to let all 3 have the space to move as they need to. Libraries are a fantastic resource and I've loved going to ours for 6 (almost 7) years now with my kids. Great post!

Hi Cristin, we do have tons of outings already posted, but perhaps we need to pull them together in a more helpful way. Thanks for the suggestion. Would love to hear your favorite go-to outings!

Don't know if you have any readers in the South Bay, but the new Los Gatos Library has an AMAZING children's area. Very large, a separate wing from the rest of the library, and lots of fun furniture to play on. Check it out!

With toddler twins (almost 21 months), library storytimes have become a huge go-to this summer. Taking two kids out of the house is daunting, but we usually just go for broke and if I end up hauling two screaming kids out of somewhere, so be it. At least *we* tried!

One thing I've discovered is that libraries offer different storytimes based on age (as a first time mom, this was news to me). I tried the "walking ONE-ders" (ha) since mine were 17-18 mos at the beginning of the summer and that was a horrible idea. They were running over the smaller kids. We tried the 2 & 3's storytime the next week and I could actually relax b/c now my two weren't the most rambunctious kids in the room! :)

Also, we've found various other storytimes in our community. We go to one a teacher supply store, there's one at our Pottery Barn Kids and even one a local grocery store by a long-time employee there!

I do like Sara's suggestion of a outings series! I try to get creative but we have several parks/storytimes/play places on heavy rotation. An addendum to her suggestion would be "outings with toddler twins--how to survive by yourself!" It would be a big help to new multiples mommas, I'm sure.

Another library lifesaver I have discovered: the ability to reserve books. That way you can browse the catalog at home (or work!) and reserve the books you want. When I get to the library with my 2 kids, I can spend time following my toddler around or reading to/with my 5 year old without also having to worry about looking for great books to bring home. Of course more books always find their way into our bag, but at least we're guaranteed some good ones esp. if we have to leave quickly ;-)

This could be a series: outings with 2 or more kiddos!
Because my baby has turned into a rampaging toddler at 15 months, the library is practically out for us. He goes completely nutzo in there and I can't even seem to find books to take home for us! Agreed about the fenced in parks - must find more of those :)
