Today’s challenge, your thirtieth, is to discover a family-friendly pub in your area and test it out. Yes, we tried this a few times. Sure, baby Julian made a frat boy of himself and booted the first time. Nobody cared!
You don’t have to compromise on ambiance every time you go out for dinner with your baby. You want a beer after work (or after spending the day alone together), and your baby wants to bang spoons on the table. No problem.
Bars that serve food also service babies. Many of them have noise levels that will enable your family to blend right in. So don’t be afraid: Go to a sports bar or an Irish pub. Pull up a high chair and get rowdy with the rest of the crowd.

I wish I could do this one. I would be all over it! But kids (including babies) aren’t allowed in bars in Washington state.
lol my fams been doing this since WE were babies. My uncle use to take us to bars and let us sit up at the bar and sing with the music. Drank some Shirley temples and had a blast, some bars have some RLY good food, too
I was talking to a rep for the Indiana Wine Council and she told me that many wineries are very kid friendly. I always assumed they were off limits (because in Indiana you can’t take a child into a liquor store [how I found out is a story for another day]…but I guess the rules are different for wineries). The gal I spoke to said that many wineries (the ones that offer food) have a kid menu, provide crayons and are overall a good place for families to visit. I’d venture to say that rule is true across the country…but always worth it to call in advance to make sure.
@Sara, Really? Bars that serve food are actually restaurants aren’t they?
Totally wish we had a good pub to go to here in Southeastern VA; I’d go in a heartbeat with hubby & our little one on the way!!! If anyone knows of a good pub in the Hampton Roads area….
6 days ’til due date…can’t wait!!!
The hubbs, baby and I did this last night… Best night ever! The bartender was so in love with 3 month old Wyatt that he gave me and my hubsand a free beer just so we would stay longer. The place was busy and one women actually remarked that it was bad parenting to have a baby in bar but bar’s owner told her that everyone was welcome regardless of size!!
