I’m nearly to month four with my darling Violetta, and there have been so many days where I just didn’t have the time to do anything for myself. BUT. When I can, my favorites are: running; sewing pillows; playing piano to Chopin, Brahms, Liszt; practicing with my French tapes (Violetta is going to speak French one day); reading (mainly the NY Times Film Reviews); getting to movies, as long as I pump enough milk; and so much more. My favorite activity now? Making my little girl laugh. There’s nothing better.

i embroider, sew, paint, draw, build and take pictures. of course the only thing i have done lately is take pictures… of my son. but i’ve just been thinking about how that needs to change.

When my baby was about 2 months old, I picked up knitting, which I hadn’t done in years. I took a class on the Baby Surprise Jacket and have been hooked since. It’s been great because I can fit in a few minutes a day and be able to drop the project at a moment’s notice. It’s also rewarding to be able to have a finished product.

This one is so dead on for me. I just realized the other day that I spent the whole summer being Mom, wife and housekeeper. During my down time I read and while that’s yummy, it doesn’t leave me with a sense of accomplishment or anything to show for my time. I am ready for that sense of accomplishment again. I found that a local quilting store offers sewing classes and I’m going to sign up. I can’t wait!

I have continued scrapbooking and making jewelry. I’ve added sewing (or at least the attempt) and home decoration (yet again… an attempt) to my hobby list. I also love BLOGGING and reading awesome posts like this. Thanks!

I loved this post. How did you know I’ve been struggling with trying to figure out what I want to do with my life lately. I would LOVE to learn to sew. At least a sock or something! I’ve always wanted to learn. Where do I go? Ask a granny? Who knows but, I’m on a mission to learn. Thanks for posting this.

My hunny’s in IRAQ now so I think it’s high time I do something for myself to pass the time away dontchathink

I love the “Not a girl, not yet a soccer mom” t-shirt idea. I wish I’d had one of those before I had a baby. I’ve been prioritizing my aerobics classes for the last couple of months and that’s been so great. Tonight they told us our instructor is going away and being replaced by someone else. Let’s face it – how could this person be as good as Jeanne? I almost cried. Ridiculous, I know! But I look forward to it so much. Don’t mess with my classes or there will be heck to pay! I thought about whining to the manager, but I was afraid I’d end up in tears.

Hobbies are what make life delicious. We all need to create and to ” bring forth”. When one can lose oneself in a hobby, and get into “the flow” of life… that is what makes other dreary tasks worthwhile.

Me? riding horses, writing, photography and hiking. And reading. And a jillion other things.

Listing your hobbies can feel like you're writing a personal ad or something. If you remembered to remember yourself back in month one, this should be easy. And even if it's not easy... it's so worth doing!
