In line with what Christy said: There's also thethingsiwant.com and wists.com. Thethingsiwant lets you add a button to your toolbar, so that whenever you find something you like you can add it with just one click. Wists has sleek sidebar widgets for your website, if you're so inclined.

Sites like wishlistr and this next are great for putting wish lists together, too. Especially if you want can't confine your wishes to one retailer, or want some stuff from retailers who don't have wish list functions.

your house is probably already crammed with large plastic baby gear (swing, bouncy seat, exersaucer, etc) so give grandparents and other doting gift-givers a list of non-material gifts: memberships to kid places (oakland zoo, discovery museum, lawrence hall of science), classes (music together, gymboree), or gift certificates for kids shoes (cotton and company, striderite, or nordstrom)
