A new babywearing device comes onto the scene every day and you can only determine if one works for you and your baby by trying it out. Enter to win the Scootababy and find out if it’s the one for you. Scootababy retails for $119.00.
The mom who invented Scootababy says:
Slings, pouches, frontpacks, backpacks, mei tais, wraps… I’ve tried and appreciated them all! But none of these carriers did what I wanted most – to carry my baby in the most natural position (straddling the hip), in comfort, convenience, and style. I didn’t want to fuss with anything that needed a lot of adjusting to put on and readjusting to get baby in or out. Comfort was also key – I needed something that would distribute my baby’s weight over more than just the shoulders (this became even more important as my baby got older and heavier).
Now we’ve got one to give away to a randomly selected reader who comments on this post. Just tell us one thing you would do while wearing your child in the Scootababy.
Comment before Sunday, November 16, 2008. Winner will be selected on Monday, November 17th and have 7 days to reply before a new winner is selected.

With a carrier I would be able to get off the couch! I have a 6 month old with chronic double ear infections (8 double since she’s been born). She has to be constantly coddled and held in an upright position to keep the pain at bay until we can put tubes in. It truly would be a lifesaver. The other slings i’ve tried always seem to get her slouching down or in a position that her head is still in pain.
i would shop! This would make life easier!
I’ve had no luck with slings or carriers and I would love to be able to find something to carry my clingy daughter around in!
Oh I’d do everything! Mostly I would like to go to the zoo or the aquarium
Being able to complete household tasks while having baby’s weight evenly distributed would be awesome. When my girls were little I learned to do everything one handed because I always had one of them in my arms. I’ve been doing the same thing with my grandson. With a new baby on the way I’d love to be able to return to two handed tasks while still being able to cuddle the babies close to me.
Ooo… I would love this. I would make some amazing PB&J sandwiches while wearing my LO in this!
I would go to the many parks we have around us. The Ergo is great, but you can’t face the baby out, and he strains his neck to look up at me.
I’d do a lot of things but the one I’d probably do more often is chase\play with my two year old while carrying my little one
A terrific carrier I would use while going to craft fairs and bringing baby along
Looks like I could really get some quality black friday shopping done with this!!!
I would walk the dogs… two dogs and a stroller is QUITE hectic!
I’d take my dogs for a walk.
I love the hip carry! I could use the help for everyday things around the house. With a baby, a two year old and a dog–ug, I only have two hands!
whoa! awesome product!
i’m one of those moms who are fortunate enough to be able to carry my son to work with me, but at 6 months he’s getting in to the “hold me all the time” phase. i had a front carrier but his little feet would get in the way of me bending down. so i started carrying him on my side with no carrier at all. With this carrier, i could have alot more hands free time to run around and get things done, and make him much more comfortable at the same time.
Our family could go on the walking trail at the park near my house.
Oh my goodness…. if I had a sling like this to make life easier with my 30 pounder, wildly active 18 month old, who loves to be held (oh my back!) I’d tell my husband that we CAN manage life with two babies and convince him to start trying again before our not so far away 40th birthdays!
I’m deaf, but I read lips, so it’s a challenge trying to communicate with my little chatterbox when he’s on my back in his carrier. I would love to see him face to face, especially on our upcoming family trip to the Smoky Mountains when he’ll undoubtedly be pointing out all the animals and trees he sees!
house cleaning
I would wear Taylor around the house while I picked up
My little one just likes to be held all the time! I could so so much more – and snuggle close at the same time.
If I had a carrier like this, I’d be able to do a hip carry without feeling like a trussed turkey in my mei tai! The slings without waist support just never worked for my back but this looks great!
I can’t get my hotsling to do a hip carry that I could keep up for more than 5 minutes– it bunches up and everyone is miserable. This would be a life saver!
I would use this to get my son from our apartment to our car, car to daycare, to the park, etc.
Gorgeous! We’d cuddle up nicely while taking a long walk.
I love to carry my baby when we are visiting gardens, zoos and theme parks, but often my shoulders can’t take the sling for that long. This looks like a great solution!
I can’t tell you how many baby-wearing units we’ve tried but this one looks like it would be very comfortable and I like being able to see my baby without having him directly in front of me.
thanks!
We would use the Scootababy in so many ways out and about and at home! A recent bout with my little one being sick for a week makes me think this would be especially great for when she’s under the weather and wants to be held, but I need to do something more than cuddle on the couch for the third day in a row!
After four kids and several carriers, I’m still looking for the perfect one. With a Scootababy, I’d be able to go grocery shopping without my 1 y.o. throwing food out of the basket. (One can dream!)
My daughter loves to be carried around–and I love to carry her!–but making dinner and doing chores become a challenge with only one hand–and my other wrist gets sore! So, I’d wear her during those times when we just have to get stuff done.
Oh pick me pick me. LOL. Happy Holidays to All.
Seriously I could really take a liking to this carrier as I can’t really do the face front one that I have now. Plus he has outgrown it!
read this blog. then go and do some activities you’ve talked about.
I would LOVE one of these. One thing I would do would be to grocery shop. I always hate having my young ones in those dirty carts. Thanks so much for the giveaway.
I would not have to worry about dragging the stroller with us everywhere we go! I tried a sling, Ergo – and nothing works well for us. Would love to give it a try!
I would do everything with my kid in this! I love the sling I have now but with a bad back it is only good for short periods of time. This one looks wonderful.
I’d hand it over to my daughter. She hads 5 children and this would make it a lot easier for her to go on walks with them all.
I would take my baby to the theme parks and gardens in town. She doesn’t want to be in the stroller away from the action of mom and dad. We need something that she can hang in comfortably for longer than an hour.
this would be great when we’re out shopping or walking our dog.
What wouldn’t I do with this sling!! I would grocery shop, vacuum, go for walks…the list goes on and on!
I have a 27-lb 7-month-old. Yes, you heard me. He’s recently started to dislike facing me in the front carrier I own, so a hip carrier would be perfect! I would actually be able to cook dinner if I had one of these, instead of grabbing a handful of cheese crackers, or worse, an ice cream sandwich.
Looks wonderful. I’ve made my own slings and they just cause too many problems trying to adjust baby boy comfortably inside of it, while the almost 3 yr old big sister looks on patiently (yea, right!). If we won the scootababy, we would wear it happily and smile even more at people while out at the grocery store. Thanks!
We would go to the antique faire and squeeze in all the nooks and crannies that are off limits in a stroller.
I would trade my oil paints in for water colors and get back to painting..The ones where my daughter Berkeley is positioned in the front just wouldn’t work and the point is a kinda missed to put her in a back carrier..Right on!!
Since I am having baby #2 and already sold my Baby Bjorn…I could definitely use this while hanging out with my 2 year old! You definitely need some hands free while playing with a toddler! This looks great…I am looking for something that you can wear other than just in the front!
What wouldn’t I do in this? It would give my poor little arms a break! I could get my house work done, grocery shopping, when we go to disneyland….wow its great!
This would be perfect for going to swim meets when my oldest daughter swims, then I can just walk around with my youngest without my arms falling off after a while! Thanks for the fantastic giveaway! Good luck to all!
I would use it while I was vacuuming. My daughter does no like the vacuum and I have to hold her, so this would keep my hands free and save my back!

I wouldn’t do anything special…. just get housework done!!
My husband and I do newborn foster care (18th baby is with us now), and I’ve tried many different carriers with limited success. This one looks like a winner. I’d use it shopping so I could still push a grandchild in the cart!
Grocery shop!! Definitely.
I’d be able to take a walk with my toddler in the park while carrying my wee one. Thanks for the chance to win!
i would do cartwheels! just kidding. since this is my first, i would take him with me grocery shopping, the park, the zoo – this would come in very handy.
