This is a great post and shares really helpful information. As a provider of predator awareness safety programs for children, teens and adults through www.KidzWeyes.com and organizational consulting on workplace domestic violence initiatives through www.hressential.com, I wanted to share a short list of tips for your readers. In the KidzWeyes workshop "Alert Parents, Safer Kids" we do a group activity for parents to brainstorm some of the things they inadvertently do to jeopardize their children's safety. The list is two pages long, but for your readers here are 15:

“Things we inadvertently do to put our children at risk.”
Decals on cars – the family (stick figures) / stickers with names on cars
 Leave child in car
Let them play out front alone “just for a minute”
Leave mail where folks can see kid’s names
 Unsupervised Internet
 Answering front door
 Call out child’s name
Window decals with family or names on it
Personalized books with their names on it
Let them roam at play areas
Name tags at Faith Organizations so everyone knows your name
 Order magazines in child’s name
Put names on phone answering message
 Volunteer kid’s names to strangers
 Leaving them home alone
