I’ve become quite adept at claiming hand-me-downs with bambino numero tre. Maternity wardrobe? Yes please. Tiny infant clothes? Sure. Gently-used baby stuff? Don’t mind if I do. I feel truly blessed by my community of moms for paying it forward and I’m happy to do the same.
For the most part, my washing machine does all the dirty work and my family saves hundreds of dollars by not purchasing new gear.
One amazing benefactor, my friend Lisa, a stylish mom of twin boys, has even handed me back some of the cute mini clothes that my older boys wore as babies.
Recently Lisa offered me a well-loved exersaucer-jumper that just needed a little elbow grease. My big guys, armed with a few Q-tips and toothpicks dipped in soap to clean out the crevices, made it shine like new. The washer ate up the gunk on the fabric. Sawyer loves it; Holden and Milo were proud to give it to him.
I later learned that Q-tips Precision Tips could have done the job of both the regular swabs and toothpicks combined. Fortunately, there are many more cleaning tasks in my near future.
We are giving away three $50 gift cards.
Comment about any terrific hand-me-down baby product you’ve either given or received before February 16 and be entered to win a $50 gift card to spend at Amazon.com. We will choose three commenters at random after we close the comments on that day. More rules here.

Love my hand-me-down BabyBjorn (and so does my son)!
My son is 11 months old and when my sister found out she was having their first child (also a boy) in April, I boxed up all of my son’s newborn to 6 month old clothes, including some maternity clothes, and mailed them to her. We recently found out we’ll be expecting our second child in August, so we’ll be expecting a similar package in due time. I’d like to hear more about taking care of 2 under 2!
I still receive hand me downs from my sister. As a triplet I was born with the hand me down gene and will never say no. From work to play clothes its never a bad thing for me.
I found a Fisher Price bouncer at a garage sale for $2. It’s lasted through 2 kids! Great buy!
With four kiddos hand-me downs are the best. I feel I would rather give my friends clothes that I know they will use than to get the few bucks from a consignment shop. I love the feeling too. And my family feels like its Christmas when we get hand me downs!!
We were lucky enough to get a hand me down changing table, snap and go stroller, and a whole lot of clothes. Hand me downs are awesome.
My sister-in-law gave us a Maclaren Twin Techno stroller to use with our two kids after she didn’t need it anymore. Such a lifesaver! Our kids would sit in there and hold hands when we’d take off for the park, and it was narrow enough to fit through regular doors.
