By law, all fecal matter in *any* diaper (disposable or otherwise) must be flushed before it is trashed. If you throw it out in your garbage with poop still inside, it is considered toxic waste; some do this, many don't. I am a flusher, although I started because I used cloth for the first 6 months and then lost my nerve when he started eating solids, and now we're back to cloth again. Flushing all the poop made all the difference when using disposables!

I'm a flusher, too. But that's assuming that your kids are into the formed patties or only semi-soft patties stage. My 18mo old neighbor still has poops that look like bf babypoop!

I have been LOVING the formed poops, as far as changing poopy diapers go, that is. heh.

So I flush, wrap it up (w/ it's own tabs) and place in the diaper genie 2 - no sausage, just one long bratwurst at the end when you change it out. ;)

That works for me -- we never have diapie stink in the house, but you can get a whiff of peepee diap smell when you open the genie occasionally.

Chalk up another one for flushing the poop! I save used plastic sandwich baggies for containing Huggies that still has some-er-stinky residue and then I toss the ziplocked diaper in the kitchen trash or take it outside.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I sometimes sprinkle some baking soda in the pail. If you have some essential oils to mix with the bs, even better.

I agree, flip the poo in the toilet. We use cloth dipes and obviously that's what we do before we put it in the pail. While I wouldn't open up the pail and stick my nose in, you can't really smell the diapers in the room.
Besides, I've heard rumor that it is actually printed somewhere on the disposable package that you are *supposed* to flush solid waste. Landfills are not equiped to properly process human waste while our septic systems are.
(Not to say that I've never used a disposable and wrapped the whole thing up in the trash. LOL)

I really like g diapers. It's a little gross to have to get a little more involved with the diaper contents by taking the inserts apart and flushing them (and the poop), but it's not too bad. And the poop ends up in the toilet.

Why not flush the poop itself, and then wrap up the diaper and dispose of it as you would a plain wet diaper? We have a Diaper Champ as well, and it can get stinky when it's full, but otherwise, it's pretty odor-free.

Gross, maybe - but no worse than changing the poopy diaper in the first place...
