We are expecting our first and I registered for one. My goddaughter completely destroyed her crib and I did not want the same fate for my crib. Her crib rail looks like an animal chewed it up, no joke. Now out of all the little ones in my life she is the ONLY one who did this to her crib. I figured it couldn't hurt to protect the crib and, more importantly, our child.

A serious must have! I used to think it was crazy that kids would chew the crib-until I had my baby! I went and got him from nap one day only to find white paint flecks on his face. Poor child number 2 will have a crib with many bite/chew marks. I wish I had seen this product. The one we bought had to be fastened down with ribbon as said child would pull them off at nap time!

Must-have for us, but i can see where others might not find it necessary if your baby doesn't chew on the crib. My 11 month old started gnawing on her crib a few months ago, and I actually made something similar for the front and the sides. Once we put the covers on, she lost interest, so I would definitely use them again in the future if I have another chewer.

I think this is one of those things that first time moms go crazy over, and then laugh about later. I would only invest if my kid actually chewed on the crib (and I know no one in real life to which this applies).

Looks like a waste to me. A waste of money, a needless product. For example, one of my bouncing baby boys did the whole jump jump jump into the crib rail and make his mouth bloody. One time. I felt terrible and he stopped doing it.

If we had this device in place, it would have gotten all bloody instead. Gross.

We love ours (we have the same one)! I wouldn't say it's a "must-have" but both of my children have been big time chewers and we have a convertible crib that we're hoping to get many years of use out of. So we looked at it as a $20 investment to keep the crib in better condition over the long haul.

DEFINITELY would recommend. We got them for long long side and both short sides of the crib. The Trend Lab ones are great. We also tried a Leacho one that was good but not as good as Trend Lab. The Leacho was velcro and eventually she figured out how to take it off when she wanted to. Also it is not as thick. If your child is big on chewing, these will definitely be useful.

for my current child? no. She has never gnawed on her crib. But I will keep this in mind for future children - if they have more woodchuck type tendencies.

Hmm. I think it's a good idea. My baby did hurt his mouth recently while biting the crib rail and jumping up and down at the same time. (Actual blood.) The price is reasonable considering it would probably cost you about $10 to buy the materials and make it yourself. But we've gotten along without one for so long that I probably won't rush out and buy one.
