Ever since we first introduced solids, DD got what we ate. Maybe she'll get separate little piles of beans, cheese, and beef on taco night versus an assembled taco, but that's the extent I'm willing to go. We do let her pick what and how much she eats from what I'm making though (for example, a ton of asparagus and not much beef is fine). If I let her pick her dinner completely, then she would eat birthday cake and goldfish crackers for every meal.

I typically plan to cook three recipes a week. Leftovers are used for lunch. Honestly though, I'M not a big fan of leftovers, because I just love food and I love variety, haha.

Two-Meal club here too. We don't like it, but our 4-year old is so picky and it's frustrating to either make a meal that is bland and boring enough for him to eat but we have to eat it too, or make a meal that we like and he rejects entirely. His meals are so simple -- plain everything -- that we prefer to just make him his own.

Just wanted to tell ya I do different meals for us and the kids also. Usually a variation on what the husband and I are eating, but totally feels like I am a waitress sometimes :) My son would eat raw spinach with brussel sprouts if I put it in front of him, but my daughter wants cheese melted in a tortilla 6 nights out of 7!

We give them one meal and the leftovers for lunch. If they don't like it, missing one meal won't kill 'em. Lucky for me my kids generally like the same foods I like, or at least over time they do, after seeing them enough times.

Real men eat quiche, and so do their kids.
