This is a crafty gift idea, posted by request.
I recently made a set of magnets for everyone in my Mom’s Group. I presented them in a stack with a little ribbon around them. I chose to do 1.5 inch squares, but you can do whatever floats your boat.
All you have to do is print your favorite image onto magnet paper. Yep, that’s my secret. You can buy a pack of 8.5″x11″ paper that is already a magnet. Print a sheet’s worth of your images and then cut them out.Obviously, for your parents, your baby would be the preferred theme. But assuming you know people with other interests beside your child, this is a clever gift for anyone. Some ideas: you could grab images from Amazon and create a display of kitchen appliances for a cook; surf the web for punk band logos for the nostalgic college roommate; or create your own magnetic poetry with just a Word document.
Here’s a snapshot of my fridge with three of Julian’s little buddies holding up some very important phone numbers.

Love it. Can’t wait to do it.
[...] Last weekend we had a joint birthday party for the babies in my mom’s group. I volunteered to do favors because the magnets I did the year before were such a hit. [...]
This is a great idea! do you know how many sheets come in a box?
If you can’t find magnet paper this works…Save all those magnets we get from businesses like pizza restraunts banks, you know the calendar and advertising magnets. I printed pictures on paper and used a glue gun to glue them on one of these magnets then I cut around the picture. Iput them on the refrigerator and show my 10 month daughter pictures of the family and point at each one saying the name of the family member. She loves it and has learned who each person is even if she doesn’t see them every day.
Love this idea. I’m going to have to get a magnetic board or something because magnets don’t stick on stainless steel appliances. It’s a major bummer.
Great idea! It would definitively be an awesome gift as baby shower souvenir, party souvenirs or other special occasion memories
The easiest way to do this is to buy avery magnet sheets from Amazon.com. There are 5 in a pack at around 8.40. I have been using these for years. All you do is stick them in your printer and print. No gluing needed. I have stainless steel appliances and my magnets stick.
I love this idea! I have thought of it but didn’t know how to go about it. Didn’t know magnetic paper or avery magnet sheets existed. Thanks for the post!!
My daughter was upset to see I didn’t buy the magnets from her soccer pictures. So I found this paper yesterday online and it arrived today. what I can’t figure out how to do — and yes, I am a luddite — is to get a format to print the photos. What program do you use to print a page of magnets without wasting space? thanks.
