Activity #61: Let the groceries come to you

by Heather

Grocery store trips are easier when all you need are the 3 essentials for dinner tonight (and you can escape before anyone melts down). Stock up on the heavy and non-perishable items all at once using Safeway.com or Peapod.

Amazon.com just started grocery delivery on the non-perishable (heavy!) stuff with free shipping. The code GROCERY2 will give you $10 off a purchase of $49 (thanks Parent Hacks!) Give it a try.

For fresh organic fruits and veggies, we get Planet Organics every two weeks with 2/3 vegetables and 1/3 fruit. Their site makes it super easy to customize our order so we never get cilantro or stone fruit.

Great idea! However, neither deliver near me yet. I’ve been looking for a way to get cheaper organic produce than what is available in the grocery store.

I’m a huge fan of Peapod. I know it costs more than going to the store, but in Boston, where we live in a condo, it’s awesome to have someone who will carry all those heavy items up to our place for us. It only takes me a minute to do our order, because they save your past orders in a master list - so you just choose what you need this time. For organic fruits and veggies, there’s a place called Boston Organics. We haven’t tried it, but the website makes the service sound very appealing!
