I’m on vacation in Peru! With my husband! Without my kids!
When I was looking at pictures of our destinations in advance of my trip, I thought it would be appropriate to post these while I was gone.
Babywearing is obviously common place in Peru, and older siblings wear their younger sibs, but most different from anything I’ve seen around Berkeley (where sometimes I think I’ve seen it all!) is that the children wear their goats!
Is that crazy cute or what?

Adorable!
Now that I’m home, I have to add a new perspective: the children seem to dress in traditional garb and wear goats only for the purpose of soliciting tourists to take photos for money. My husband was very distressed by this because the kids are essentially being taught to hustle at a young age.
Beautiful pictures! What a wonderful trip! Are you traveling to Manchu PIchu?
Glad to have found your website today!
hustling aside, great post title. and, let me back up a sec. you were in PERU with your husband and not your kids? you are a goddess.
Hi, I’m from Peru. I live in Lima. It’s true that many children do that for money but not all of them. if you go where tourists don’t you will see some of them (not all) doing the same thing and dressing the same way. It’s our culture (although you won’t see it in Lima).
I’m glad you visited our country and I hoped you had a great time.
I really like your website!
