Some savvy mom told me years ago that books make the best shower gift. A newly expectant couple is mostly thinking about diapers and carseats and strollers, but probably not about how they’ll introduce their child to a lifelong love of reading. When setting up a bedtime routine, reading aloud from Sports Illustrated is fine for the first couple of months, but really, your house needs a big stack of children’s books.
This week, we’re holding a drawing to give one lucky reader $150 worth of books from Barefoot Books, a mom-owned publishing company.
I’m a huge sucker for the work of one of their authors, Clare Beaton, because it’s all hand-sewn illustrations. Did you get that? Sewn!
Their mission is to promote exploration, global awareness and creativity in children.
Here’s how to enter:
Have a look at their online store, click on your child’s age, and tell us one title you’d like to have for your child’s library. On Monday, August 15th, we’ll select one winner to receive the Barefoot Books bonanza. If you are the winner, you’ll pick 8-10 more to go with it, depending on price.
For a second entry, visit the Barefoot Books Facebook page and Like it. Then make a second comment letting us know you’ve done that. Ok, go!
