Scarlett, age 3, refuses to wear any pants that are not leggings. No zipper nor button shall pass over her hips. “Stretch pants or no pants” is her motto.
Ryan and I are partial to jeans. Her big brother Julian has been wearing denim since he was a couple months old and wears them most of the time. Ryan and I wear jeans most of the time as well, and he keeps Julian outfitted in up-to-date washes. I realize I am sounding more shallow by the minute, so let’s just go with it. Basically, we’ve been reluctant to accept her leggings-only wardrobe.
When I saw Levi’s toddler jeggings at my local independent kid store, I fell in love.
These Levi’s jeggings are perfect for Scarlett. They feel soft and stretchy like leggings and offer the elastic waist demanded by the protruding tummy set. With a shirt hanging over the waistband, they look like jeans, including the trademark Levi stitching and red tag. And she totally went for it.
(FYI, I can only find them at one online store, Cookie’s in addition to the Levi’s online store. I paid less than $20 for these toddler jeggings and they come only in sizes 12, 18 and 24 months.)

These would also be great for cloth-diapered babies whose extra-fluffy booty makes traditional jeans hard to fit. My daughter almost exclusively wears knit pants for this reason. I’ll have to look for jeggings!
Call me out-of-fashion if you must, but I am absolutely allergic to the word “jeggings.” Cute kid though.
Love this idea! I have boys, but have just been blessed with a niece and I am sooo getting these for her! thanks for sharing!!
I’m also not a fan of the word “jeggings” but these look insanely cute on your insanely cute kid. This may just be the post that brings me around on this trend.
(Never for me though. Perish the thought!)
Target has some “rock” style leggings right now…one pair looks like denim, no fake pockets, though…
I didn’t get any for my kiddo…but I bet they’re cheaper than above brand.
I was in the regular girls section…Didn’t even check to see if they had any for the smaller set.
I also love these for my daughter (who is potty training and needing the easy on/off legging styles right now). I found some fake denim leggings at Walmart (admittedly, not very PC…but so very cheap) for about $3. They are in such heavy rotation now that I am considering going back and buying more.
garanimals makes them too. Very inexpensive. I don’t like the new crop of their jeggings as much as the ones I bought over about a year ago. Those looked a lot better. They have them in black and dark blue.
I just read this post yesterday and then went to Kohls’s after work and saw a pair in the girls 4-6 section. You may want to try there. They are super cute!
Wish they had these for boys. My son only wants to wear soft pants. He hates the buttons and zippers of jeans. “They keep popping up!” he cries. Also, he would be too big for these even though he is only 2.5.
They sell these at Macy’s too. They also have a brand called Greendog (I just bought my daughter a pair) that are cheaper and just as cute!
I love them for my daughter too! I bought her some at the childrens place.
