I remember this post…but 3 years ago it was not even on my radar as my oldest was just 1 year old! Her next birthday she will be 5 (!!) and my middle child will be 3 (!!) so this would be so totally cute and easy for them. Their birthdays are in the same month, 2 weeks apart, so we do combined celebrations and basically have decorations up almost the whole month of May. This would be perfect. Thanks for featuring it again!

This is a great idea. I also like the idea of having the parents over for dinner before a sleepover. What a great way to have a great night and a kids sleepover rolled into one. I recently did my 8 year olds party. The idea was to make as fun as possible a party with about 40 people with as little money as possible.

I cut my child’s age out of a big piece of paper, and have her decorate it however she wants. Then put it up with tape. Always cheap, easy and appropriate.

This is such a great post. My friends and I love to do stuff lke this for showers, parties, etc. My friend purchased a stamp set to make different letters and numbers like the “5″ example above.

Very cute use of streamers. Love the 5 images. I bet he loves that. And the brownies look just perfect (especially if that’s what he likes).

When I make brownies or cakes and don’t have time for frosting, I sprinkle powdered sugar on them. Or, cut out a “5″ stencil using paper and place it on each brownie before you sprinkle the sugar to stencil the image. If the cake is white, you can sprinkle cocoa or hot chocolate mix.
