As a mature adult I am able to understand that a drink sipped over several hours with food (because what would a party be without nachos) will have little or no intoxicating effects and if a mom at the party did get tipsy there are plenty of other moms nearby to assist. I love getting together with the girls whenever I can, and margaritas are definitely my fav. But you won’t find me putting my toddler in the water while I’m enjoying one, or find me drinking while I’m in charge at all. I’m fortunate that my hubby takes over for me when I feel a need to relax with a drink.

Caelen’s Mom, you hit the nail on the head: we need to feel a little “bad”! We need to feel like whole adults, not just babysitters. I love this challenge and things that make me feel like a person who has my own friends and own interests and, yes, own adult drinks, rather than just a big fancy children’s accessory. I would never get tipsy with my kids. I WOULD toast to the fact that I’m an adult.

But none of my (awesome, beloved) neighbors drink, for health or religious reasons. Sigh. So lemonade parties it is!

Yeah, I’m not so sure it’s a great idea to put our babies/toddlers in water and start drinking. I’m all for a drink (kids are stressful) but honestly this is just not a good plan.

Yeah, Nate’s dad, you suck! You are probably not the one home with Nate ALL DAY EVERY DAY. Moms need to feel a little bad while they are being moms or they go crazy.

We started a Mama’s Group from our Prenatal Yoga class. We’ve been meeting weekly since before their births. We’ve already had a few pool parties, this summer. It’s the way to go. Socialize and have fun!

As for alcohol, Dad-Guy – why are you assuming that the Mommas would be getting Tipsy or Drunk? Have you never had fun? And, shame on you to even reference that we “need” alcohol, that we’re irresponsible and that the kids are a “burden.” Your comments are a disgrace, not fun and – You’re not invited to any of our Momma Parties!!!! (heehhheeeee).
Love, all of the Mom’s who think that celebrating our children’s lives and our friendships is beautiful, amazing and almost perfect – with or without a Margarita. Cheers!

Are you serious? Getting drunk or even a little tipsy while watching a child is completely irresponsible. I’m glad that I don’t find watching my son is such a burden that I need alcohol to help me get through my days.
