This week’s challenge is a summery activity for babies that can sit up on their own; this is your 34th challenge.
These ten-month olds (Theo, Del, Julian and Paxton) are having so much fun slurping on plastic toys and touching one another’s toes that they don’t realize their moms are having fun too.

Ingredients for a successful Margarita Mommies Group:
- Shady backyard on a nice, warm day
- Kiddie Pool with a couple inches of water
- Mom-sized lawn chairs with toes dipping in the water
- Plastic pitcher of margaritas with plastic cups
- Splashing babies (diapers optional) — keep them in the shade or slather heavily with sunscreen before the party starts!
- Daddies available to pick up mommy and baby afterward
This was suggested by my hairdresser as an awesome way to enjoy the summer!

Do you hate this challenge? Yeah, we’ve heard that one before. Go on, tell us why you hate it in our comments. Then pick another activity from our challenge list.

I love this idea – a few girls I met at gymboree and i just formed a playgroup called bagel mamas on friday mornings – i love it but to be honest – margaritas are more my style – i will have to suggest a special event soon
thanks for the great thought
Carrie
Oh I am so doing this! I just found your website from mamac-ta.com and I’m going to read the rest now but I love that first idea!
Are you serious? Getting drunk or even a little tipsy while watching a child is completely irresponsible. I’m glad that I don’t find watching my son is such a burden that I need alcohol to help me get through my days.
I didn’t mean to create such a buzz. You could also have lemonade or ice water and it would still be fun… and/or a hot lifeguard or babysitter standing by.
We started a Mama’s Group from our Prenatal Yoga class. We’ve been meeting weekly since before their births. We’ve already had a few pool parties, this summer. It’s the way to go. Socialize and have fun!
As for alcohol, Dad-Guy – why are you assuming that the Mommas would be getting Tipsy or Drunk? Have you never had fun? And, shame on you to even reference that we “need” alcohol, that we’re irresponsible and that the kids are a “burden.” Your comments are a disgrace, not fun and – You’re not invited to any of our Momma Parties!!!! (heehhheeeee).
Love, all of the Mom’s who think that celebrating our children’s lives and our friendships is beautiful, amazing and almost perfect – with or without a Margarita. Cheers!
Yeah, Nate’s dad, you suck! You are probably not the one home with Nate ALL DAY EVERY DAY. Moms need to feel a little bad while they are being moms or they go crazy.
Love it! I’m going to do this with my neighborhood mommies, that way they can walk home if needed!!!
Nate’s dad is lame!

Yeah, I’m not so sure it’s a great idea to put our babies/toddlers in water and start drinking. I’m all for a drink (kids are stressful) but honestly this is just not a good plan.
Caelen’s Mom, you hit the nail on the head: we need to feel a little “bad”! We need to feel like whole adults, not just babysitters. I love this challenge and things that make me feel like a person who has my own friends and own interests and, yes, own adult drinks, rather than just a big fancy children’s accessory. I would never get tipsy with my kids. I WOULD toast to the fact that I’m an adult.
But none of my (awesome, beloved) neighbors drink, for health or religious reasons. Sigh. So lemonade parties it is!
I love getting together with the girls whenever I can, and margaritas are definitely my fav. But you won’t find me putting my toddler in the water while I’m enjoying one, or find me drinking while I’m in charge at all. I’m fortunate that my hubby takes over for me when I feel a need to relax with a drink.
As a mature adult I am able to understand that a drink sipped over several hours with food (because what would a party be without nachos) will have little or no intoxicating effects and if a mom at the party did get tipsy there are plenty of other moms nearby to assist. Thanks for the trolling Nate’s dad.
