I couldn’t decide if I should title this “Help your kid be cool” or “Make yourself cool”. Either way, this is an activity whose payoff is years and years down the line.
I was reading MetroDad (who is hilarious and a fantastic writer, by the way) and saw that he and his wife are buying concert t-shirts for their now three-year old daughter so that “in 20 years, she’ll be able to glam out with brand-new vintage concert shirts.”
My husband has been instructed to buy a shirt for his future teenagers when he goes to see the White Stripes in a few weeks.

haha! That is too funny.
I guess I have to start going to concerts again, right?
That IS funny.
In the meantime, can I wear the concert t-shirts? I want to be cool, too.
That’s a cool idea, we do something similar when traveling on vacation or when one of us goes on a business trip – we go to the local Harley Davidson store and get our son a shirt. Our son has shirts from Harley Davidson in Anchorage Alaska, Colorado, Fort Lauderdale FL, KillerCreek, GA, etc… each store has their own “shirts”.
No, we do not own Harleys… we wish we did.
