The HALO SleepSack, an item used religiously by every woman in my mom’s group, is an example of one of those things you have never heard of until you have your own baby.
Remember the scene on Friends where Rachel opens her baby shower gifts and then begins to cry because she doesn’t know what any of the items are used for?
Katherine: It’s a diaper genie.
Rachel: Oh, it dispenses clean diapers!
Katherine: No, it’s where you put the dirty ones!
Rachel: Well, that’s gross. Why don’t you just take it outside and throw it in a dumpster?
Mrs. Green: Well, are you going to do that ten times a day?
Rachel: It goes ten times a day? What are we feeding this baby, Indian food?
I could see that re-written to incorporate these vest-meets-sleeping bags.
The thing is, for the phase of life in which you need them, they are the perfect solution for keeping baby snuggly warm without the risk of loose blankets. Scarlett and Julian both wore their SleepSacks to bed over their jammies, even as toddlers.
And now, there are so many cute ones to choose from. (Back when my babies were born, there were only solid colors in fleece — and we had to ride dinosaurs to the birthing center in the snow uphill both ways!)
In the SleepSack Swaddle version, a “swaddle band” attached to the wearable blanket allows your baby to be swaddled with arms in, or arms out as a transition out of swaddling.

These new colors and patterns are available at Pottery Barn Kids stores and PBK online. You can add a name or not. (Note: I am personally against monogramming these for hand-me-down logistics reasons.)
Huge thanks to HALO for sponsoring this post and giveaway. Please like them on Facebook if you’d like to be kept up-to-date on their products and safety news for babies.

Halo sleep sack since he started rolling, before that the halo sleep sack with swaddle. These new ones are adorable!
My 4 month old son sleeps in a Halo sleep sack every night! We love them!
I used sleeps sacks my first an now with the second in the way- it’s a MUST!
we love sleep sacks! this is great!
Both children have used Halo from birth. The baby started off with the swaddle which was invaluable in helping him fall asleep sooner and stay sleeping longer. Now he uses the SleepSack every night.
#1 and now #2 sleep sacks all the way!
Sleep sacks all the way! We still put our 15 month old in a sleep sack and Halo has been our brand of choice since her birth. Good, good stuff!
We swaddle with a blanket, but I’ve always thought a sleepsack with a swaddle would be nice.
Baby sleeps in soft pj’s right next to mama!
Halo Sleep sack! She knows its time for bed when she puts on her little sack. She’s almost two now, so she has a sleep sack with feet!
Well so far the baby sleeps in my tummy. I am due at the end of June and think this would be a perfect accessory for our lil’ one!
I don’t have a baby yet (due in Sept!) but I would love to have a Halo sleep sack for baby to sleep in from the start!
Man, mine is 16 months and he sleeps in just PJs. I often feel guilty when I’m snuggled up in my bed but he doesn’t seem to need or want a blanket! At least I do notch up his heat when our room is ice cold?! I LOVED the swaddles. We used them for 7 months.
My 3-month-old sleeps in a sleeper (or whatever he happens to be wearing that is still partially clean.) He falls asleep much faster if he has been swaddled. I got a sleep sack as a shower gift, but I’ve been a bit mystified about when/how to use it. (-:
Our Breagh currently sleeps in swaddle sacks. They are wonderful as she knows it’s bedtime when we put her in them. She has been sleeping great in them!
My wee babe sleeps in my belly. He/she is only 14 weeks along!
Currently the baby is sleeping in my belly, but hopefully in a SleepSack when s/he arrives in May!
My daughter sleeps with big kid blankets, but I’m pregnant and looking forward to using Sleep Sacks for my son:)
my daughter has always slept in a Halo Sleep Sack :0) I am afraid to use a blanket…they’re the best! :0)
I’m having twins in a few months so I can’t speak historically yet, but I”m planning on swaddling first and then moving to sleep sacks!
My daughter slept in these sleepsacks until she was walking (~13 months) and I plan for my son – due in 7 weeks – to use them as well. They are great and keep them warm in this year-round chilly at night place we call the Bay Area!
My nearly 1-year-old (gasp, how did that happen?!) hasn’t slept in anything but a Halo sleep sack since he started rolling over (and thus we stopped swaddling)! Would love to refresh our supply!
My toddler wore sleepsacks until she was well over 3! My baby now wears sleepsacks
My 9-week old daughter Natalie has been wearing Halo Sleepsack Swaddles since she came home, and she was recently diagnosed with hip dysplasia and is wearing a harness that she’ll have to wear for a few months and the only outfit that she can wear during the day is the Halo Sleeveless Sleepsacks…so for the next few months, we’re strictly a Halo family, so we love all the stylish girlie ones!!
We swaddled till 5 months and now use a sleep sack.
Our baby is 2 months old and has colic. We LOVE the halo sleep sack with swaddle. It helps her feel as though she is still in the womb or being held! These products have been a lifesaver for us and being parents of three children, we need all the help in getting sleep we can! Halo sleek sacks are the best thing and a heaven-send to us!! Whether or not we win, we LOVE these and will continue to use them along with recommending them to every parent out there!!!
Swaddled inside a sleepsack on cold New England nights….I’d bundle myself up this way if I could. Really.
Getting my Maeve to sleep swaddled was a nightmare when she was a newborn…and then someone told us about these things! We skeptically bought one, and have since bough three more! They rock! One of those “must” recommend items for my new mama friends, and you’re right I had never heard of it until I was having swaddle issues.
Everyone is our house who fits in a Halo sleep sack sleeps in one. If they came in adult sizes, I would sleep in one too. It would be a genius way to solve the cover hogging issue!
Our baby has been using Halo sleepsacks since she was three months. She is always so warm and snuggly at nights.
I’m due March 19th so the baby isn’t sleeping in anything yet, but the plan is to swaddle, then move on to sleep sacks.
Felicity likes to sleep in her Halo Sleepsack Swaddle.
Sleep sacks!
I guess my baby sleeps naked because I’m still about 2 weeks from our due date
I use the swaddleme sleepsack. My son loves to be swaddled but is approaching 3 months so we need to transition to Halo sleepsack soon. These new ones are super cute!!
My little girl sleeps in a Dwell sleep sack. I love it but they only go to 6 months and she’s just about outgrown it!
My son slept in a sleep sack every night until I couldn’t find a size for him anymore! Now he sleeps in in a big bed with sheet and blankets (*sniff, sniff* where’d my baby go?). But I would love to have some new ones for the next baby!
My baby sometimes sleeps in a sleep sack but we only have one. I would really like to have some more!
We use the sleepsacks that you can swaddle… Although more and more, our daughter seems to get an arm out!
During August, and have heard great things about sleep sacks from all my friends who are moms!
My baby’s in a sleep sack and I’d love to win an extra for him and give the others as gifts. Pick me!
I have a 5 month old boy. We started with sleep sacks, tried “Magic suit” in between and now alternate between sleep sack and crib blanket. We love our sleep sack.
My 2 month old little girl sleeps in a swaddle blanket at night and for naps throughout the day.
My two-year-old, though now in big boy blankets, loved the swaddlers! And if our newest addition (due in May) is anything like his big brother, he’ll be loving the swaddlers, too!
Sleepsack all the way! It keeps my little one so warm and cozy and when we put it on him he knows its sleepytime.
Our little one is due to come in 3 weeks! I LOVE the Halo Sleep Sacs… My friend’s use them for their children and they swear by them!
Sleep sacks all the way! Til he’s a teenager!
I have an 18 month old who sleeps in a Halo Sleepsack at every nap and every night. My oldest slept in one until he was 2 1/2 and I will be using them for number 3 due in April. Love the new designs, would love to replace some very worn out ones in our drawers right now.
I just had a baby girl last week and she sleeps in the Halo Swaddle Sleep Sacks!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win these for her! Thanks for the chance!
In footed pjs, but that’s all
