The giveaway is closed but do read about the cute product! The HALO SleepSack, an item used religiously by every woman in my mom’s group, is an example of one of those things you have never heard of until you have your own baby.
Remember the scene on Friends where Rachel opens her baby shower gifts and then begins to cry because she doesn’t know what any of the items are used for?
Katherine: It’s a diaper genie.
Rachel: Oh, it dispenses clean diapers!
Katherine: No, it’s where you put the dirty ones!
Rachel: Well, that’s gross. Why don’t you just take it outside and throw it in a dumpster?
Mrs. Green: Well, are you going to do that ten times a day?
Rachel: It goes ten times a day? What are we feeding this baby, Indian food?
I could see that re-written to incorporate these vest-meets-sleeping bags.
The thing is, for the phase of life in which you need them, they are the perfect solution for keeping baby snuggly warm without the risk of loose blankets. Scarlett and Julian both wore their SleepSacks to bed over their jammies, even as toddlers.
And now, there are so many cute ones to choose from. (Back when my babies were born, there were only solid colors in fleece — and we had to ride dinosaurs to the birthing center in the snow uphill both ways!)
In the SleepSack Swaddle version, a “swaddle band” attached to the wearable blanket allows your baby to be swaddled with arms in, or arms out as a transition out of swaddling.

These new colors and patterns are available at Pottery Barn Kids stores and PBK online. You can add a name or not. (Note: I am personally against monogramming these for hand-me-down logistics reasons.)
Would you like to win FOUR SleepSacks from HALO? Winner receives her choice of sizes and colors.
To enter the random drawing, comment here telling us what your baby sleeps in: swaddle, SleepSack, nothing, or big kid blankets. (On Thursday, March 1, we’ll use a computer to select a commenter who will be able to specify her prize package.)
Huge thanks to HALO for sponsoring the giveaway. Please like them on Facebook if you’d like to be kept up-to-date on their products and safety news for babies.

We use sleep sacks every single night! I think we need to get the walker kind soon for our 10.5 month old. He’s already standing in the sack in the crib.
We love Halo sleep sacks! We use them every night for our 13 month old son, in lieu of a regular blanket! Keeps our little man warm and my husband and I as parents, sane!
Our little guy (5 weeks) sleeps in a swaddle. He doesn’t like it. I’ve been thinking about trying a halo sleepsack swaddle…
My baby hasn’t been born yet but I’m willing to try all forms of swaddlers/sleepers to help him get some good sleep!
Miss Maddi refuses to keep blankets on, so it’s sleep sacks all the way – love them!
Baby boy is due at the end of March, but Halo sleep sacks are on our must-have list! All of my friends with kids have highly recommended them!
Right now he uses a Miracle Blanket for swaddling, but we plan to stop swaddling next month and he’ll be in SleepSacks
When my guy was born the swaddle sleep sack was a godsend. I was upset when he outgrew it and I found out it didn’t come in bigger sizes! He’s now in a swaddle me blanket, but transitioning to the sack once again. They are so helpful.
My 17 month old still uses sleep sacks even though he constantly walks back and forth in his crib. We kept him swaddled for as long as we could. We joked that if we didn’t stop swaddling, he’d be asking his college roommate to swaddle him before bed each night. Sleep sacks make going down for naps and bedtime so much easier. They allow for less wriggling around.
We use Halo sleepsacks every night. I love them. They hold up so well! You are right about not monogramming the PB versions. I wold be so tempted! But as a good example, my baby girl currently sleeps in all blue hand-me-down sleepsacks she got from her brother! Not that I care (& she doesn’t either).
We have the early walker version for my toddler son. We have always used and loved sleep sacks from swaddling all the way to walkers!
We use a Sleepsack every night for our six month old daughter. She’s starting to outgrow her small ones, so we’re just about to transition to a bigger size. These are so cute!
SleepSack
My son used his Halo sleep sac every night and now with baby #2 on the way it’s the only way to go! Love them!!
We usually swaddle. But lately he has been getting out of the swaddle and pulling the blanket up over his face…not good! I have been wanting to try him in a sleep sack. So this would be perfect!
Right now, it’s a fleece footed pajama for my 2 year old, but baby number 2 (due soon) will be in a sleep sack for sure!
We use Halo Sleepsack Swaddles every night for my 3 month old. They work so well, I couldn’t imagine using anything else.
We wrapped our babies burrito style and put them in sleep sacks after they grew out of the wrap. My daughter is 1 and a crazy sleeper. I like the sleep sacks because they are safe and keep them cozy warm through the night.
Our five month old Isabel wears a halo or Aden + Anais sleepsack over her footed Jammie’s every night. I love that it is safe for her and that she can move and flip around and stay covered up!
Big kid blanket (1 1/2 years old now). But we totally used (and loved) the sleep sacks for the first year. These new colors and patterns are super cute.
My niece hasn’t been born yet. I would love for her to have the sleep sacks though and will probably get her some. They look so much better than trying to swaddle her with a blanket and worrying all the time about it coming untucked.
Right now he still sleeps in my belly, but after early June, I hadn’t really thought about it yet! Apparently one of these!
Hi! I’m not sure if this is international, but I’d like to share. I’m about to give birth and so we’ve stocked up on frogsuits, and I also have a sleepsack and some swaddle blankets. We do not want any loose blankets to avoid SIDS.

My 5 month old has been sleeping in sleep sacks since day one. Our favorites are the halo ones. Love the PB patterns. Cute!
so far it’s swaddling but i’d love to try the sleep sacks.
sleepsack!
Our baby sleeps in SleepSacks!
Swaddled with a receiving blanket!
We swaddle our four-week old, but I’ve been wanting to try a sleepsack!
My baby (3months) sleeps in either fleece jammies, or cotton jammies + SleepSack. We live in the northwest, so cozy, warm night-wear is a must!
we use the aiden + anais blankets to swaddle our baby. would love to try the halo sack with swaddle band to help transition our from needing to be swaddled to sleep.
My 2 month old daughter sleeps in a SwaddleMe swaddle blanket or the Miracle Blanket now, but we’ll need the Halo sleepsacks soon. These PBK patterns are so cute!
she sleeps in a sleep sack now (with a detachable velcro swaddle wrap)…which she is just starting to grow out of! =)
Swaddle or sleep sacks until baby was 4 months!
Our 10 week old is swaddled every night. The Halo sleepsack looks perfect for when she’s a little older.
We were faithful sleep sack users until our little guy decided at 2 to go with big kid blankets. But with a second on the way I am ready to bring back the sleep sacks!
Hi… I am looking foward to swaddling our first baby around July 13 (2012!) The Halo sleepsack looks so snugglie, I am hoping to pass your generosity to our baby. Thank you!
With my son, we used swaddle blankets or the swaddle for dummies things. He gave it up at three months and then slept quite well without the swaddle.
Baby still sleeps in my tummy! He’s due at the beginning of May. Can’t Wait!!! My sister’s 10-month-old sleeps in a sleepsack. She loves it.
My son sleeps with a sleepsack on each night. jj250@aol.com
My first slept swaddled, and then we moved to sacks for a LONG time! I’m due with number 2 in June, and the swaddle band sacks look really cool!
I never knew what a sleep sack was or how awesome they were until I had my first baby this past December. I just LOVE them; so easy and convenient for those middle of the night diaper changes!
My lil one started sleeping in Halo Sleep Sacks in the NICU when he was born 9 weeks early. Coming home after 5 weeks, we kept it up since he slept so great at night. He is almost 6 months old and still sleeping for us in his sleep sack…thank you thank you!
The eldest slept with regular blankets, and it didn’t work that well. Definitely considering sleep sacks for the baby that’s on his way
We loved the SwaddleSack when our baby girl was a newborn. We haven’t continued on with them now that she’s bigger (5 months). I’m curious about the bigger ones.
We arrived home from the hospital last night and swaddled baby in a sleep sack for her first night home!
My baby sleeps in a sleep sack. We love them and could use more!
I would love to have these for one of my friends! I wish I would have known about these when I had each of my four boys! What an awesome idea!
We aren’t due for a few more months, but I’ve heard these things are great!!
We are a combo. SleepSacks at night and swaddle for naps. It makes no sense, but hey it works for the girl!
