Halloween in September is almost rational compared to the Christmas in August I encountered at Costco last week – seriously people, they had LOTS of fake trees, lights, red and green wrapping paper, and other assorted decorations for sale – not to mention they had seriously beefed up their toy selection.

The waste involved with Halloween decorations makes me crazy! Not to mention the cheap costumes! I feel your pain!

Loving the DIY costume kits… not loving the whole candy aspect of Halloween. I wonder if as my baby grows up I’ll be able to convice him that Halloween is a holiday where you get to visit the neighbors just to say hello and catch up, rather than to gather enough bad-for-you snacks to last until Christmas?

I was just in CVS this morning and my daughter came to the check out with two fist fulls of skittles bags. She’s never even had skittles! And she didn’t have them today either. And incidentally we’ll be taking advantage of her unibrow this Halloween. A little Mexican dress and some pinned braids = FREIDA.
