I just wanted to say that when I saw the two photos of your son swinging, then and now, I started to cry. Why do they have to grow up?

I enjoy your blog very much and with a 3-year old and an 8-month old, my interests run the gamut from onesies to preschool right now.

I think keeping up with the current stuff is best. These are your rookie school-age kid years. As long as you keep the original content for those moms who are at that stage. Someday we will be rookie moms of college age kids. Let’s keep hanging out through that stuff too.

I have been reading your blog since my almost 5 year old was a baby, and I now have another one on the way, so I find the content for all of the age groups very compelling and useful. Keep up the great work!

My rookie baby just started kindergarten too! I love reading the stuff for older kids and for toddlers as I have a 2 year old. I definitely skim or skip the baby stuff although sometimes there are some ideas I can use. I don’t see why you can’t continue providing content for moms at various stages.

I wasn’t sure how to answer this, but now I think I know. I started reading Rookie Moms when we were trying to concieve and I found all the things I could look forward to, to be interesting to read. If the site graduates to a level that will keep the writers interested and engaged, surely the readers will continue to enjoy knowing what the future could hold.

Everything needs to progress and it’s only natural for a website about motherhood grow as the children grow. And you can always continue to have guest writers with younger children.

I look forward to doing one of the ‘day of your life’ stories with my new baby. I remember the post from some time ago to photo document a day in your baby’s life and write it out for them to read later. Doesn’t matter when it was published, it’ll still be fun for me to do when baby and I have figured out how to leave the house! (technically it’s still quite easy to travel as I’m only 37 weeks….)

I have always liked the mix. When my boys were younger, I would star the posts for the future that interested me. Do you remember doing the pictures in front of graffiti with both of your older boys? That was one I flagged as planning to do with my boys but then never found graffiti I liked.

Not a baby rookie now, but there are lots of rookie things I’d love to learn about with older kids:
* Packing peanut-free school lunches
* Getting dinner on the table every night (have loved this series)
* Crafts that older sibling and younger sibling can do together

And I agree with a better index! And move the search bar higher to a more prominent place.

I’ve been with you guys for years…my kids are almost the same ages: 4 1/2 and 3. I really enjoy hearing about your kids now so definitely keep up with that! I do like hearing baby ideas sometimes too because it gives me ideas for friends that are having their babies now.

My big kid went to school for her first day today! I feel like a total rookie and am almost as nail-bitingly-nervous about doing it right as I was when she was a newborn. I also have a 3 year old (who has blown away all my expectations of 3 year olds, so that always keeps me on my toes like it’s the first time too!) and we have another in the oven. Although I don’t have the same concerns about a new baby as I did 6 years ago, I still feel like a rookie, and I appreciate your blog for its variety. Keep up the good work!

I agree that I love a mix! I love following your little ones, and I think that occassional guest blog posts about little wee ones would be great too! I have been reading the Rookie moms site for almost 3 years now I think! 3?! Is that even possible! Wowee!

I LOVE your blog!! My baby is 15 months, and I’m still a rookie mom. I think your blog has a really nice mix of things to do with your older kids as well as things brand new mommies should know. I love reading about what to expect in the months to come, but since I’m also planning on another little one sometime in the future, it’s nice to read about infant stuff too.

I think you’ll always be a rookie when it comes to your first born. New things to learn as each stage progresses. Still very relevant to your readers!
