Activity #124: Go to a Farmer’s Market

by Whitney on April 23, 2008

in Bay Area, Eating, Free/Cheap, Green, Month 7

eat fresh and seasonalLook around and choose a vegetable your baby hasn’t tried yet. Bring it home and steam and puree or mash with a fork.

Does this not sound like enough action for you? Believe me, it is. Navigating the stroller through the market area is a challenge and there are so many things to look at for your baby, it’s worth the effort.

There are Farmer’s Markets in Berkeley each week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday sponsored and organized by The Ecology Center and another festive one in Rockridge on Sunday.

The beautiful Farmers’ Market in the San Francisco Ferry Building is on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Check the hours>

we carry the babe on our back when we go to the farmers market- he likes to grab the cukes and carrots and some farmers have gotten to know him well enough now that they hand him the food not us! it is a big hit which all started back when i was knocked up and reading this blog!

My 7 months old’s favorite new food is spaghetti squash, that was fun to try and really really yummy.
