Facebook, how do I access thee? Let me count the ways:
- On the desktop computer in my home office.
- Who am I kidding? I rarely sit in my office. I am writing this from the comfort of my couch, with my laptop. I have not actually looked at Facebook yet today, but I see that Twitter access is already open in another browser tab.
- My phone.
- Our iPad, usually found on a nightstand or sometimes in the kitchen.
- And now, the Sony Dash. The Dash is basically an app machine that cycles through content you have preselected, such as NY Times photos of the day, E! headlines, Martha Stewart recipes, and of course your Facebook account. Unlike the other Internet devices I mentioned above, you don’t have to click or do anything for the content to come to you.
If you are one of those people who “forgets” to check in on your social network-y friends (I’ll just pretend I can relate to this), or forgets to read the New York Times, or forgets to keep abreast of pop music, tune in. You’re going to like this.
Our Sony Dash is currently in the living room, telling me that it’s 65 degrees in Berkeley, CA. Since it has an alarm clock function, I could also see using it as a bedroom accessory.
You can run a bunch of apps on this handy little guy, or just keep it simple and use it as a picture viewer when you link it up with your Flickr account. It connects wirelessly with your household network, so it just plugs into the wall for power.

Other cool tricks? Touch any of the stories to see more – so if you’ve got the YouTube widget running, simply touch the video to see it play. Like the recipe Martha is promoting today? Touch the screen to see the whole thing. Got Netflix? Watch your Mad Men while you do the dishes. Betty Draper’s housekeeper only wishes she had it so good.

Want one? Sony gave us one to send to a reader. Here’s the deal:
Click over to the Dash info page and identify one application you’d like to access in a dash. Are you a Twitter girl or a Pandora junkie? Need your sports news ASAP or your E-bay auction status? Tell us in the comments below. Comments will close at midnight on Thursday, September 23 (US-residents only. Sorry!). We’ll pick one winner at random on Friday, September 24, 2010.

Pandora for the win!! Facebook and Twitter would be close behind too
I would use it mostly for Facebook I think, but who knows. I hope that I get one so I can try out some of the other things. Pandora sounds interesting.
I would have to say the YouTube video portion is what would be used most on my end. That, and Netflix. Sure would be a great way to keep me and the kid busy.
I’m definitely going to need the Weather Calendar app!
Pandora, Gmail, Google Calendar..to name a few!
This is so stinking cool! I love that you can use it to follow your RSS feeds. I would so use it for that.
Recipes, photos and weather! I am in Los Altos, so I hope I still qualify? (residency)
Loving the post ladies! I really love how you started it… a little poetry to inspire! Let us know who wins the contest too!
absolutely Pandora!
Gmail calendar! I always wish I could access it while I was away from my computer but I don’t have a “smart” phone. Also facebook and gmail and pandora!
Mm, probably Yahoo! Weather. What a neat device!
Facebook!!
I would use to go on Facebook while listening to Pandora…what a great piece of technology! You cannot go wrong with Sony.
Oh, definitely Wikipedia! I swear I look at wikipedia like once an hour.
I’m a social network junkie.:) name it, I’m on it. Facebook, Twitter, friendster, blogpost, tagged,…lol. I love YouTube and yahoo music. But I’m more on facebook actually. I’m online 24/7. Never turn my laptop off.
Well, Twitter of course. And I’d probably do the Flickr one too.
Gmail! I am still attached at the hip to my email account.
yikes, too many to pick just one! pandora, probably. or facebook. google reader?
Oooh! So many great choices! I’d love it for both Facebook and Pandora!
I would NEED to have pandora. It keeps me sane.
I would need to have my gmail!!! What a great giveaway.
Wowza! Weather calendar, and um, facebook, and twitter cause I’m a bit of a junkie. This would totally feed the addiction!
Personally, I’m all a-Twitter, but I can also see this might be good for my parents or in-laws who love the internet but don’t always know how to navigate it efficiently.
I’d love to be able to access Twitter in a cool new format in a dash…I could see it being, as you mentioned, a bedroom accessory and being able to leave computers out of the bedroom…
NetFlix instant streaming… in the laundry room! All that clean clothing might finally get folded, sorted, and put away while I catch The Unusuals or watch a BBC costume drama.
Definitely Pandora, I have it open all the time!
I’d probably love it most for Google Reader. Thanks so much for the opportunity to win.
I would definitely use it in the kitchen to access recipes while I cook!
Yeah, I need more stuff going on in the background, so Pandora would be a perfect app for me. Then I can concentrate on serious things like Twitter
Twitter is how I found out about this and twitter would be my no. 1 app if I won this.
@sdf1skull
I think I’d definitely use Pandora the most- gotta have my music!
I Love PAndora And facebook …
My favorite app is netflix , I love having it in my kitchen.. no more dragging the laptop from room to room..
Facebook!
I would have to choose the Facebook app. You can never have too much Facebook.
We don’t have TV channels (we have a TV, but only for movies), so I would LOVE to access Netflix Watch Instantly’s or just abc.com to catch-up on 2 years of sitcoms!
LOVE pandora! I have a station for each of my moods + one for kids music for my son. We would get **A LOT** of use out of this one!
i love weather and movie and facebook and gmail too tagged too i cant hear music i missed my hear for music smiel i need background yahoo and :d
What don’t I love about the sony dash? Instead of sharing mine the husband wants one of his own. I adore the games or chumby spy. I love that I can look at the golden gate bridge and see how foggy the city is before I head into it. Danny Marooned is a hoot!
I like checking late sports scores from bed, a Dash would be perfect for that! It actually looks cool for all sorts of stuff. I’m not usually a gadget guy, but this one is pretty cool.
I want to be able to wake up to my favorite artists on Pandora! and weather reports, and eBay bids, and Facebook updates, and news reports, and YouTube clips, and …..
Definitely Facebook & Twitter, but also the Photobucket App – especially to share photos of our baby girl!
Podcasts, of course! And videos for the kids
My number first app would be twitter. Then I would add Gmail (I have a VERY busy inbox!), NetFlix (the only way we get access to TV, and always put it on for my little toddler’s shows), and YouTube; that’s just for starters! I’m a technology + video game junkie + fulltime Mom, so having one would help me get organized abit (I’m using only my phone for just everything, including writing this comment!)
I got the dash so I could wake up to Pandora. A win.
I discovered I could use it to track my Facebook. Another win.
And with webcams I can see what’s happening on the slopes in Fiss, Austria. A bonus win.
I would love it to check weather updates, and facebook, and photos….I think there is VERY little I would NOT love about the Dash….
I would use it for Facebook
Facebook!
I’d use the Yahoo weather, alarm, Twitter & Smugmug viewer the most. I’d probably also stream music & listen to podcasts occasionally.
I love the weather channel app. I am on twitter!
