This contest is now closed. The winner will be notified. The book below is still a break-through so read on.
When I read the new children’s book Monday is One Day to my kids for the first time, I felt like doing a little jig. Yay for working parents! Yay for kids being raised by grandparents! And for twins! Of color! Yay for parents who wear uniforms to work! Yay for families who have two dads!
Each page of this book validates some child’s special family — and together all of them acknowledge that although we may drop our little ones off at daycare, we are finding fun things throughout the week to celebrate, until the weekend comes again.
Monday is one day, Tuesday is blue shoes day, and Wednesday is halfway day.
If you think your child would enjoy this story, designed to relieve separation anxiety, here’s a way to get the book — and more — into your hands. Win it from us.
We are super excited about this giveaway because it includes a mini-collection of Scholastic books AND a set of days of the week underwear from Paul Frank. (I know you want these for yourself, too, because I sure do.)
Two (2) winners who comment on this post will receive:
- A copy of Monday is One Day!
- Days of the week undies for a little girl or boy
- 3 additional titles from Scholastic for ages 3+
This bundle is valued at $105 and is courtesy of Scholastic. (Book image courtesy of Scholastic. Copyright 2011 © by Arthur A. Levine. All rights reserved.)
To be entered, tell us what special attribute of YOUR family do you wish to see reflected in a book? Two commenters will be selected at random to win the prizes. Random drawing on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.

I’d love to see more books about adoption.
Would love a book “explaining” family members far away!
A geek/nerdy family book – Dressing up for cons and doing Star Wars crafts together.
I’d like to see stories about secular families and scientist families.
I’d like to see families where the mom works and the dad stays home.

I married a widower with 2 young kids and we now have one more little one together. Would love to see this dynamic, along with our interracial mix, reflected in a book. We also both work at home (for now), so even though I think we’re pretty special, I know our family is more like the norm than what we both grew up in!
Thanks for the contest
we’re a 2 mom family with 2 little girls. Mama works outside the home, I work PT but my kids come with me to the office sometimes and the rest of the time I work from home. I bridge the SAHM and WAHM worlds! Love all books about non-traditional families!
My husband is in England and we live in British Columbia, Canada. His family still lives in England, and I think it would be great to have a book about a young kid maintaining a relationship with relatives from afar – talking on Skype, sending photos by email, and every so often either having Nanny come and visit or going to see her after a long trip across the Atlantic.
We are a foster and adoptive family, so I would love to see more books about families that are continually changing their shape, size, color, etc. =)
I’d love to see a book about scientist parents!
I would love to see a family buying local produce at the farmer’s market and playing in the neighborhood park!
What a cute giveaway! I would like to see a book that reflects some WAHM (or dad!) aspect.
This book seems great since I would love to see more books that focus on kids going to daycare. It is not a reality that everyone was a SAHM.
I would love to have a book about living in a different country, and/or why mom and dad speak different languages, why they don’t speak the official language as well as the children etc.
I love the underwear!
I love it…I work partime and the girls have daycare days and grandma days, mama days and mama and daddy days…so I love a book that describes how different families do different things.
Maybe it already exists (and I just haven’t looked hard enough), but I would love a book where the toddler loves going to daycare and the working mama isn’t made to feel guilty or like a bad mommy from any of the influences. Sigh. (Reflecting on the insenstive comment directed at me today). Perhaps I’ll write it myself…
What a fun giveaway! I would love to see books about multi-cultural and multi-racial families. Also love to see books about famlies with working moms!
I’m with Kristin, I’d like to see more two mom families and two dad families represented in children’s books. My son has a Mommy and Daddy, but we have very close friends who are two Mommies. I want my son to see these loving relationships represented in books and television so he does not question differences as he gets older.
How about a book in which the child’s sibling is autistic, and the ways in which their special needs impact the family and the younger/older sibling?
I’d like to see a book about an inter-religious family. Christian-Muslim, Christian-Agnostic, etc.
We are a pretty run of the mill family but the book sounds great!!
We’re a two mom family-love to see that.
I’d like to see books about blended families that include step-brothers and step-sisters. Thanks.

My husband travels a lot for work, and I find it’s hard to find books where the mom and dad aren’t both home every evening. Love to have a little help explaining “where’s daddy?”
I would like to see sibling love and sibling rivalry featured
Thank you for hosting this giveaway
