Gift guides galore

If you’ve been checking in with us this week, you’ve probably noticed our obsession with “clutter-free” gift ideas. I’m beginning to wonder if I’m all talk.

I love the idea of the experienced-based gifts, yet I can’t stop buying little THINGS for my kids. I know that these stocking stuffers will eventually become the clutter I curse. So please, comfort me by confessing that you too have been seduced by cute snack containers whose tops will become immediately lost. (Um, to-go lunch set for a little kid for $5.99, anyone?)snack containers for babiesSome gift guides and tips I have enjoyed this week:

  • The Photojojo store is essentially a gift guide for someone who likes to take pictures and has a quirky, current sense of style.
  • An editor at Mashable put together a list of 10 Unique Gifts You Can Make With Help From The Web. It includes personalized shirts, granola, and energy bars.
  • Cool Mom Picks,  inspiring and useful year-round, has produced a 2009 Holiday Gift Guide that is a delight to read.
  • Design*Sponge acknowledges that money is not falling off the trees this year with gift guides organized by dollar amounts. Many lovely things to covet on the Under $50 list.

And one bonus link for those who have moved on from shopping to New Year’s Resolutions: A list of tools to help organize your life in 2010. It’s over at ParentsAsk.com.

I want that lunch set for me! I am totally a nerd like that though.

Are you kidding? I get sucked into over-buying for my kids every year. Santa, the parents, and the grandparents are only allowed to give one gift to each kid. But somehow they always end up being overwhelmed anyway. They would be happy with their stockings and that’s it. What’s wrong with me? I know – I’ve been spending too much time looking at beautiful gifts guides like the ones you have listed. My fave so far is from Lottie & Doof.
