I have a huge plastic bin of fabric, but have not been interested at sitting at my sewing machine lately. I love all those beautiful colors and patterns that are folded and crumpled in my storage tub, and thought that this project, which I saw featured on MAKE, was an excellent use of them that doesn’t require threading a bobbin.
What you need:
- Fabric scraps
- ModPodge
- Blank canvas
- Stiff brush
If you’ve got a box of baby clothes with which you’re having a hard time parting, perhaps this is a way to memorialize some of your favorite itty bitty infant items, but do note that knit fabrics, which most soft apparel is made from, will roll up and fray at the edges, so take good inventory before you start slicing things into pieces.
Blank canvas can be ordered on Amazon. Here’s a 4-pack.

Love this! And I happen to have all the supplies on hand…
OMG! Where have you been for the last four months of my life? Seriously!? How have I not found you until today? I LOVE you and LOVE your blog! I have been looking for something like this site in forever. I was doing research for my blog which is not up and running yet, (just bought the domain name yesterday) and found you. You have made me soooo very happy. I have been looking for some great activities for my 4 month old son and you have delivered. Keep up the good work.
