Back in the old days before GPS doohickies were commonplace, I got lost All.The.Time. Before meeting my husband, I used to call Whitney’s husband to navigate me out of mysterious neighborhoods and lead me back to safety. Getting married meant that part of Alec’s new job description was mission-control from home whenever I was lost. Love that guy!
What’s worse than being lost and late in the rain? Being lost, late, in the rain with a baby in the car! Am I right? Thanks to having a navigational GPS in the car, those calls of “help! I’m lost again!” are fewer and fewer.

My family and I took a roadtrip to Texas. We have family there and have been many times, so we figured printing out directions online would get us there alright. We made it most of the way, until we hit Texakana. What should have been a ten minute drive through the town turned into two hours, thanks to road construction that we didn’t know about. We got completely lost, and ended up somewhere way out of the way. A TomTom would’ve been AWESOME during that trip!
I could have used a TOMTOM last weekend when we were on a road trip to Dallas. Our current lame GPS device is a lemon and blacked out mid-trip! It was really frustrating to be lost, then found, then lost again. We could really use a new GPS!!
When I turned 16, my first long drive (looking back, it was only 30 miles away..) was to the lake near my home town in Oklahoma. After about two hours, I decided to stop at a gas station for a map. I was confused when the attendant handed me an Arkansas map. I should have had a TomTom..
Honestly i could use a TomTom ALL THE TIME. I have serious directional problems. Thank goodness my son loves to sleep in the car because i am constantly taking us on some crazy back woods “short cut” that never gets us there. Because we have lived in so many different city’s i find myself getting very confused about where the heck Target is. So yea i could really use some help.
I can get lost in a box. Seriously. When I was in college, I travelled about 7hrs from my parent’s house to where I was going to University. I repeatedly got lost.. over 5 yrs. I would forget – ‘is this the turn?’, etc and I didn’t really understand the ‘Exit left to El Paso and Right to Dallas’ and where to go since I didn’t want to go to El Paso or to Dallas. I was a navigational failure. I had a lot – seriously a lot – of times where I had to turn around and lose time in my trip. A GPS unit would have been very nice.
My husband and I both were cursed with having no sense of direction. I had a recent incident last week while trying to find a clients home about 30 miles from my own. She had gave perfect directions, but once again my inner compass failed miserably! I was low on gas, had no cell phone & being pregnant had to pee for the 1000th time that day. I ended up running out of gas before I found it, walked carefully to a strangers house to avoid wetting myself, and was lucky enough to find someone home that was helpful and friendly. If I had a GPS at the time, I could have avioded the whole mess altogether.
There have been so many times when a TomTom GPS would have saved us time. During our last trip we were stuck multiple times in bad construction traffic. It would have been nice to know how long the backup was and any other possible routes to take.
I could give you an example for about everyday of my life. LOL But one that stands out in my mind is while traveling in Thailand…we were so lost we ended up in Cambodia!
I so wished I had one of these when we were in New Jersey this summer! We had even brought our Garmin all the way from California for a family reunion, but it is so lame that it literally takes 30 minutes to find satellites EVERY TIME WE NEED IT. UGH!
So yes, we were wandering aimlessly trying to get from my husband’s cousin’s house to his aunt’s house because of course we told people that we didn’t need help to get there — we would just use our GPS, the one that NEVER can find the satellites. I desperately need a TomTom. 
I wish I had one on a recent rafting trip. We were running late to get to the drop in site and it would have been great to know how far away we were!
There have been MANY times that I could’ve used a TomTom! Specifically though there was a time when my son was about 6 months old that I was trying to go to a (free) baby sign language class. We had “one of those mornings” where we couldn’t get out of the house on time because of diaper explosions etc. and then of course I couldn’t find the place either so I ended up turning around and going home! When I tried to go to the next class meeting after getting better directions the class was full with a 50+ person waiting list!
we just moved to the Atlanta suburbs … everything is spread apart.. I get lost easily
