Since it’s rainy today and I was having a very very hard time getting motivated to get out of the house with Julian, I was thinking about how lucky I am to have several baby and toddler-friendly coffee shops to choose from.
For me, what makes a coffee shop friendly for parents is a corner with toys to keep them busy and a bathroom with a changing table. In Berkeley, we have a newcomer, Cafe Pri-Pri, that has an entire loft and play corner. In Oakland, another new place, called Tumble and Tea, is set to open soon.
I would love to have a round-up here, if y’all would do me the favor of commenting on your favorites in your neighborhood.

I haven’t yet made the trek to Oakland’s Play Cafe but I hear it is quite fun.
Also, tragic as it might sound, I like the Berkeley Target in-store Starbucks for pre-toddlers. I can bring a snack for the boy, get a drink for myself, and Holden can play with whatever we’ve purchased.
I used to love bringing our little girl to the local coffee shop, unfortunately it doesn’t work so well now with three children under five.
Tumble ‘n’ Tea is now open. FREE for kids under 1. So hurry! The playspace is not bad and especially in the middle of the day when bigger kids have gone home for their naps it is almost deserted and safer for the crawlers/toddlers.
