You have definitely inspired many activities in the Sanchez Aguirre household, from my lame attempt at making a geo-board to things like trying a new park and “eating my own dog food.” I always raved about a local toy store that looked amazing, but I had never actually gone there. One day we were all going a little stir crazy so I just put the kids coats on and we went there. They played with trains for more than an hour and left without a fuss.

Also, you reintroduced me to FlyLady and some of her concepts, which has helped me as a wife and mother, tremendously.

among many activities, inspired me to take my son for a latte…. when we arrived at starbucks, momma was not in the mood for a latte, we had a jones drink and a slice of cheesecake… little did momma know the drink was caffeinated – who makes a caffeinated “banana-strawberry” drink?!! We got out of the house, we shared a drink, and I learned my lesson – read labels!

Holy Cow – did you influence my behavior to do something, to try something – um YES!!!! There are tons of things!! Mostly you inspired me to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE and who cared what I looked like, I just had a baby, call another new mommy friend and GO DO SOMETHING! I started a mommies and daddies group on Friday mornings where we take adventures – things I probably wouldn’t do if it was just li’l ol’ me and my ideas…We have had so much fun together and we’re not rookies anymore but we love to still swap ideas and inspirations. Most importantly, I have steered a bunch of new parents to your site for inspiration too! I remember adding the WHOO button to my IPod Touch, making t-shirts, making family photo memory game, chasing the garbage truck, making a tutu, going to kid-friendly coffee shops, making a list of activities we could do as a group, swapping toys and clothes…I could go on, but I won’t =) Thank you very much for the inspiration and please, keep it up!

So many things you two have inspired me to do (and tell other rookie moms about)!
-The monthly shot (now on 2nd kid, too) with the same toy in the same chair is still going strong at now 33 months. (No, we haven’t figured out when we’ll stop. Kindergarten? When she rolls her eyes & flips us off every month?)
-I haven’t photographed the degradation of our living room, but I work with lots of artsy types and have told them about it. That gets ‘em hooked every time.
-Got my baby a “job” at the UC Infant Studies center
-Crafted & repurposed many a onesie, shirt, etc.
-Made food, gone on dates, bootcamped, etc.
Thanks for so many ideas and the energy & reminders you bring to keep things fresh.

Where do I start? Let’s see:

I made baby pants from a t-shirt. I made a flag garland for my kids’ room. I’ve gone on an outing with my SIL and niece at least once a week since the baby was born to help keep her from going crazy (she still can’t drive because of her c-section). I held my own diaper drive for HAMO. I screwed up my courage and took both of my kids on an outing all by myself when the little one was a newborn. And my all time favorite: the “Did Do” list!

Thanks so much for all the inspiration over the last five years. You guys are my heroes.

LauraC, you’ve made me all misty-eyed.

Whitney inspired me to write down all the crazy stuff I liked to do with my baby and to get plenty of girlfriend time. She talked me into baby movies, mommy yoga, and baby bootcamp.

Only I use the Olay sensitive face wipes. I’m fairly certain they’re all pretty much the same, though.

You two definitely inspire me! I started reading your blog last summer, right after I had my first baby and I would try out ideas all the time. I got your book for Christmas and whenever I “run out” of ideas of what to do, it’s the first place I look. I even got some earmarked for whenever there is Baby #2!

My favorites were learning baby massage, taking monthly pictures, and taking pictures of a sleeping baby.

A few things from your site immediately spring to mind.

The first was you mentioned putting two babies in a swing together. I thought this was perfect for twins! This picture was the first time my boys rode together but they continued riding together until they literally could not fit anymore like that (around age 3) because they thought it was fun:

I also had no idea there was magnet photo paper until I saw it on your site. Every year I make fridge picture magnets to use as Christmas gift tags.

Even though I’m not a rookie anymore, I recently used your “Spend a week in San Diego” post to help plan kid-friendly meal places for a family trip to San Diego. The post was spot-on and we got to enjoy meals on the road.

And I definitely remember reading a post in my newborn haze about how you should just not worry about where your baby sleeps the first 8 weeks or so. That led to these kinds of naps in our newborn days:

RookieMoms has definitely influenced me to try different activities with my kids: wake up and go to Ikea, touring a chocolate factory, fill up the kitchen sink for toddler water play…

Incidentally, I met a mom, just this past weekend who told me she learned about HAMO last year through your Twitter feed! She’s now volunteering for us! Pretty cool, right?
