I love your site and your book. It’s great inspiration to those of us who get a little antsy and bored at home and like to do new things with our babies. My baby is now a toddler and I’m happy that a lot of your activities work for toddlers as well. We tried potching the other day and my little guy had a great time. I also enjoyed making pants out of old t-shirts. Thanks!

sarah September 11, 2008 at 12:12 pm

Wow! I actually clicked over earlier today and was so excited by the “7-9 MONTHS” block staring me in the face, because, hoo boy, I need it. Beautiful! And so easy to find what I (desperately) needed.

mel September 11, 2008 at 12:29 pm

I love that activities are separated by age.

Celeste September 11, 2008 at 12:45 pm

I really like the clean look of the site and the simple color scheme–very appealing and easy to navigate. I have two just-turned-2 year olds and have come across lots of great tips here–thanks!

Magic Mom September 11, 2008 at 12:46 pm

I love this site. I actually feel happier when I read it, similar to when I hear the theme music to “The Office.” I have a five year old and a three year old and I just started reading it. I wish I would have known about it when they were babies. I would not have felt so alone in my post-partum fog. You are both very inspirational to me, so thank you.

Wendy Copley September 11, 2008 at 12:50 pm

I’ve been enjoying your blog for many years now. A friend of mine turned me on to it early on (at post #4 or 5, I think!) and I’ve been following your suggestions ever since. It’s very helpful that I live in the East Bay too because I can do many of the exact same things you guys are doing.

Stephanie September 11, 2008 at 12:56 pm

I love your site and have been reading it for months now. I have a 15-month old and have tried quite a few of the activities from your site. When I first started reading your activities and the blog – I felt right at home – you both are real people, with real kids and real lives – thank you for putting yourselves out there for all of us to relate to, laugh with and commiserate with. I do like the new look and feel (and the color scheme) of the site – makes it even easier to find activities for the right age group. Keep on blogging!

Terri Peters September 11, 2008 at 1:01 pm

Your site is amazing. As a first time mom, there are so many suggestions that have helped me in my journey so far. You make me feel like it’s okay to not always have all the answers or know what I’m doing – and sometimes you help figure out what to do! You guys rock!

Hannah September 11, 2008 at 1:04 pm

I have used so many ideas on your site! The memory game with family photos was a huge hit with my neice, the spelling with Flickr site inspired me to make fabric blocks with iron-on letters that spell out my friends’ babies’ names…the list goes on. Only thing is, I need to use more of these ideas for my own poor baby, who is sick of her friends getting such cute gifts, while she is left with generic stuff from the store. You are both brilliant!

mama k September 11, 2008 at 1:07 pm

LOVE the site and always recommend it to my new mom friends. A few posts that stand out to me are… the repurposed board book father’s day present, halloween costume ideas and suggestion to take the baby to a cafe by yourself. :)

Kim September 11, 2008 at 1:09 pm

I like the age-appropriate activities blocks – they’re eye-catching but not overwhelming, easy to find, and it’s quite obvious what they are. I’m hanging out in the Months 1-3 block, but when it comes time to move into a new block, I won’t have to hunt all over the place for the Months 4-6 block.

VDog September 11, 2008 at 1:39 pm

LOVE the new look. LOVE LOVE LOVE the new blocks for age groups. Not loving the black dashed box around it, though. How does it look with the gray dashed lines?

The sidebars are a little overwhelming for me, BUT you have lots of useful information there, so not sure what you could really do about that.

I’d ditch the sitemeter for an invisible StatCounter, or pay for the upgrade on sitemeter if you don’t want to switch. I’ve heard great things about woopra as well, and they have a hidden counter.

GREAT job ladies!! Lookin’ GOOOD!!!

Toblerone from Simple Mom September 11, 2008 at 2:18 pm

Yep, looks great! A superb theme choice, if I do say so myself.

Andrea September 11, 2008 at 2:35 pm

I love that you can browse activities by age. Maybe it was always on the site, but I never noticed it before. Thanks for sharing all your great ideas with the mommy world!

Jen E September 11, 2008 at 2:57 pm

I love the browse by age option – very well organized. The whole new design is fab by the way. :)

Meg September 11, 2008 at 4:10 pm

I really like the age group boxes on the new site.
Being a new mom, I love your activity suggestions and use many of them with my 10-week old daughter.

Peanut September 11, 2008 at 4:54 pm

I love the age blocks! With a two year old and a baby, it needs to be easy for me to find or I won’t use it. I’ve been enjoying all your tips!

Adriana September 11, 2008 at 6:58 pm

I LOVE your tags. It’s so easy to find some specific kind of activity that you’re looking for (like “cheap”). The other thing I love is your sense of humour, we all need it being moms. Oh, and the “a week in ….” topic is the best! I haven’t used it yet but I will for sure, you never know what to do with kids in a new city!
P.S: the new look is awesome.

Lynn September 11, 2008 at 9:51 pm

Wow, the site is DEFINATELY easier in the eye! I am so loving the new age range quick clicks! Nice work ladies! Devine!

beckyfay September 12, 2008 at 12:42 am

i love the new site! i have been following you guys since way before i got pregnant and you have saved me so many times when i thought i would lose my mind from sleep dep/newborn/almost toddler craziness. i was so happy to see the new layout, it makes it much easier to search new ideas and activities for me and the little one. thank you!

Karen B September 12, 2008 at 5:40 am

I really appreciate the activities by age level.
As an expecting mom, I am anticipating using it for years to come.

Thanks for all the sharing.
Karen

Melodie September 12, 2008 at 6:27 am

I love the age range organization. My son is two months old today, and I love that you help me to feel like I’m not alone! Thanks for all the great ideas!

Jill W. September 12, 2008 at 9:09 am

I love the simple clean look, and the buttons by age option. I just love reading new ideas for things to do with our DD! Thanks!

Isabelle M September 12, 2008 at 9:27 am

I was hooked as soon as I found this site (through 101 Cookbooks). What I like best are the One week in another city suggestions. I’m looking forward to travelling with my baby and it’s great to go places you feel welcome (family friendly was something that totally eluded me until I had a baby). But all the activities sound great and I’m taking lots of notes, trying as many as I can and passing them on to friends.

I love this site. Thank you for providing me with inspiring ideas!

Liz Gumbinner September 12, 2008 at 9:32 am

The site looks amazing and love the new “your hostesses” shot on the homepage. Go rookie moms!

Lindy September 12, 2008 at 11:09 am

I love that the “toddler” block is there for easy reference as well as the activities list, which are always a great resource for me!! Thanks!

Amelia September 12, 2008 at 11:09 am

I love the new design. I like that it’s white behind the text now, makes it easier to read. My favorite thing is the collection of buttons at the top right so you can find activities by age! I just really enjoy reading the blog in general, it’s witty and timely and makes me feel better about the job I’m doing as a newish mom.

Lauren Averill September 12, 2008 at 12:08 pm

love the new look. great job ladies (as always). my favorite part of the site is the age by age blocks. makes it easy to navigate. keep up the good work.

Margie September 12, 2008 at 12:47 pm

I love the very easy to find and navigate age blocks in the top righthand corner. Thanks for making it so easy to find what I’m looking for!

Emily September 12, 2008 at 1:14 pm

I love the new design! It makes it a lot easier to find the activities that work for my 3-month old. I also like the more prominent display of who wrote which because I could never keep straight who said what before. And I’m hoping to get a copy of the book very, very soon!

Amanda K. September 12, 2008 at 1:19 pm

I appreciate that you’re cognizant that no one is a real
pro at parenting; rather we’re all learning together, and the best thing is to just share what little tricks work for you. There is no condescension. Isn’t that the last thing a new mom needs? Thanks ladies!

Judith September 12, 2008 at 1:56 pm

I think I can second (and third and fourth) the age-separated activities.

kristen September 12, 2008 at 2:49 pm

I love that you have the activities organized by age. My first child is due in November and I’m stocking up on ideas for when he arrives. I especially enjoy the “did do” list post. I’m an avid list maker and always fall into the trap of dwelling on what I didn’t get done instead of what I did. Thanks and congrats on the new look!

Rob September 12, 2008 at 2:50 pm

I love the activity and nutrition suggestions – especially the recent one for how to have a fun “stay-cation” (and preschool car wash) – and I really love the look of the new site, very clean and bright… Go Rookie Moms!!!

Emily September 12, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Any time I am feeling a lull in activity with my baby, unsure of what to do for a change of pace for both of us, I can look at your site. Without wasting our precious together-time, I can quickly click the link for her age and find an activity to spice up our day–that is the best thing about the blog design. Thanks for keeping the ideas coming!

Cecilia September 12, 2008 at 3:51 pm

I love the activities arranged by age of baby! What a great way to search for age-appropriate fun. Your site is looking fantastic! And what a great prize package you’ve put together!

emily September 12, 2008 at 4:49 pm

love the new design! So fun

Megan September 12, 2008 at 5:24 pm

I like the way you’ve organized everything by age. It will make it easier to find cool tips as my daughter ages.

Shani September 12, 2008 at 5:27 pm

I love your activity and outing suggestions! None of my local friends have kids and my daughter just turned one. Your site is like having an experienced friend nearby!

Natalie Streber September 12, 2008 at 6:42 pm

I love the style of the site. I am no designer but it seems like a sophisticated, modern style mixed with some vintage feel. Very serene and inviting. And of course I love the content! I have picked up some fun ideas from you ladies (even if I am not a rookie:).

Suzanne September 12, 2008 at 8:00 pm

I love that you’ve broken down the activities into age categories – it’s great when I need to come in and get an idea for my kids!

Carleigh September 12, 2008 at 10:30 pm

Every time I see a new post from you on my RSS feed I get very excited to visit your site and read it. You always make me smile with your sense of humor. Thanks for all the tips.

Kara September 13, 2008 at 12:16 am

I love the new look! It’s so streamlined. My favorite thing would have to be the easy access to the archives that are organized by age groups. Brilliant!

Thanks for all you do. Keep up the great work, girls!

Lisa September 13, 2008 at 2:29 am

I just found your website a few days ago . . . I’m a new mom of a 3 month old baby girl and am not doing too much before the next round of feeding, burping, diaper change, begging her to go back to sleep. I LOVE your site – you guys are hilarious and I’d rather read you than sleep! Thanks so much for the laugh-out-loud chuckles I get from your posts.

I read the below lines and was hooked. It described me to a tee!

“I am tired, and distracted with details of keeping tabs on the baby nail clippers and making sure there is always milk in the house. Lame? Maybe. But I’d guess I’m not alone. Anyone else feeling oppressed by having to check in with their partner before they take a shower?” (My husband doesn’t even check with me before he books tee times on Saturday mornings!)

Kristen M. September 13, 2008 at 6:43 am

I have loved this blog through two newborns and faithfully check a few times per week. It is also on my list of blogs to check out to new mom friends, but the new format blew me away!!

So fresh and new…keep it up.

Fingers crossed….KRISTEN

Amy Tucker September 13, 2008 at 7:25 am

I have been by a few times on your site, I am intrigued but not yet a subscriber. I think more interesting stories about you folks would add a personal connection.

Otherwise, pretty good layout, user friendly and easy to read.

Regards,
Amy

Pamela September 13, 2008 at 9:58 am

Like many others…I love how the activities are searchable by age!

DramaMama September 13, 2008 at 2:10 pm

I have enjoyed the encouraging nature of your website. One post I remember was when you suggested we set the timer and GET IN THE PICTURES w/our babes! There’s hardly any pics of me on our computer! I started doing that and told all my girlfriends so now we compare pics we took at home doing random stuff…I love the new site! It’s cool how you made the categories a little more user friendly. Congrats!

Claire September 13, 2008 at 7:52 pm

I love the redesign! I love the different age buttons, but I also love the middle column that has so many different categories. It really gives you a sense of all the different information you have. Fabulous!
