Can someone please name my boy-baby-to-be?

Here are my criteria:

  • Ends with a vowel or an R
  • Probably 2 syllables maybe 3
  • Definitely not in the top 20, hopefully not in the top 100
  • Sounds nice with “Holden and”
  • Doesn’t sound like a dog’s name

That’s it… please help me. I love one name and my husband doesn’t love it (yet) so we may be screwed. Sure, if I have another 44-hour labor, maybe, just maybe I’ll get my way… but I’ve gotta cast a wider net in case that doesn’t happen!

Can we offer readers another detail? Last name similar to “Brett” so make sure it sounds good with that sort of last name. Example: Jasper, good. Jett, bad.

I’m partial to Brighton, since that’s our 18 month old son’s name :) Our next boy, due any day now (well, not till Feb. 10th, but it FEELS like any day now) is going to be Levi Quinn. We’ll just call him Levi. Others we debated over… Sawyer, Jude, Wayland, and Asher. It is so much harder coming up with boy name, than girl names. We had a SLEW for girls that were cute, fun, unique, but not too weird :) Hope you guys find a good one! Best of luck with your next labor. I’m scared to death after a traumatic first one myself!

Hi Heather! Hope all is well. Just stopped by your lovely site to see how the world of “RookieMoms” is going. I just recommended your site to a friend who is pregnant and she was very impressed! Anyway, Matt’s cousin is thinking of naming her baby “Ryker” which I think it pretty neat. But that’s all I can contribute … :)

Alright, I snooped around Betsey’s website suggestion and found that if I want to have a name that’s generally as popular as Holden, here are my options:
350 Declan (too matchy-match?)
351 Julius (too close to Julian?)
352 Alfredo
353 Camron
354 Maximilian
355 Arthur
356 Holden
357 Larry (my mom’s ex)
358 Ezra (we have some friends thinking of naming their girl this, but I love it)
359 Moises
360 Douglas (my ex)
361 Orlando (ding ding ding!)

Hi Guys!
Well, nearly 2 years ago we named our baby boy Owen, which we still love. Even though it gets used more than any other word in our house!
Ok, maybe not as much as ‘no’ but it must come close :)
How about Xavier?

Oliver?

Vladomir?

Here is a quick shout out for my favorite… If we had a son his name would have been Hamish.

You might check out http://www.babynamesgarden.com
They have a feature that let’s you look up baby names “ending with” whatever you care to input, and their advanced search tool lets you plug in other parameters also. Good luck choosing!

We have two sons Finley and Hunter, which are unique, but not too wierd. We get lots of compliments on them. I am now having my fourth baby(we do not know the sex) and I thought Ryland would make a cute name! Good Luck!

Thanks for the great response. The “contest” is over. The boy’s name is Milo. :) Love it or shove it.
