If you have any living grandmothers, call one and ask about her childbirth experiences. Some parts might sound horrific (no partner in the room, maybe no pain relief, or worse, knocked out entirely), but some might sound lovely (not sure what - let me know if you hear anything good).
Her story will mean more to you now than it did before, and obviously, she will be thrilled to hear from you.

I don’t know if this qualifies as “lovely” but my grandma rode a tractor to bring on her labor. It’s at least a little “funny”. And when my dad was born (her second), she had to have a police escort cuz the baby was in such a hurry.
My other grandma had a very loooooooooong labor. I must have gotten the 44 hour labor-thing from her side of the family.
