Baby gear trends: White, white, white

When my friend and cubemate Sunny was expecting her son, she complained to me about a white outfit she received as a gift. “Who’s going to put a baby in white?” she said. Years later, when Heather was invited to wear white for a full weekend as part of a Tide promotion at a conference, she realized she didn’t own any white at all. “It’s just not practical.”

My conclusion had been that white and kids just don’t mix. But I’ve been called wrong.

white-baby-bjorn-carrierColor me shocked, but an increasing number of baby gear items this year are a stylish modern white. Sure they look fantastic, and the accent colors pop nicely, but I’m not sure it’s welcome by parents. I’d rather dye than have a white nursery. (Snort.) Do you think they should tone it down or is this bright trend a welcome one?

Here are some products I spotted at the Biggest Baby Shower event.
